Do you give a rip about who goes to SEC Media Days?

To me, it's near impossible to get excited about the 2025 season. Some wins have to come first. The one thing about Mullen when he was hired - he was out selling the program. Telling the fans to buy in. Lebby has done very little - if at all - of that.
It's hard to sell the program when you went 2-10 in your first season. With Mullen, we had hope. Even though he was an assistant, he had won a national championship and beat the crap out of a Nick Saban Alabama team when he was at Utah.

It's a max 10 second talking point for me. But good golly. Some on the paid board have their jimmies rustled over the fact that Brenan Thompson is going.

Shapen, Isaac, and Thompson for those wondering.
No don't care and won't care until we have a competitive program.

The fact SEC Media Days continues to exist is one of the great living anachronisms of the modern age. It's a rare chance for newspaper employees to go on an expense account-supported junket, and that alone keeps it going. That's really all that keeps it going - interests of that sort and adjacent. Online sports media folks like steaks and alcohol and nice hotel rooms at someone else's expense, too.

With full time media staff in each athletic department and a connection to the internet, the whole event is unnecessary.

Once upon a time, the access it created for both the schools and the media was a big deal. Now there's no reason to go in person anymore EXCEPT for a junket.

In the days pre-SEC Media Days, there was a junket for the print media called The Skywriters. The SEC flew a whole plane load of sports writers in a group on a big private plane from campus to campus to campus over the course of several days. Wined and dined them each night. Kept them in nice hotels. Took them to play golf each day along the way.

Could not give less of a 17. I couldn't name you more than 5 players on the current roster right now. I will pay zero attention to football until the day of Game 1.

I hadn’t thought about this, but you are right. Out of the gate Mullen was basically on the campaign trail. Lebby seems to basically only do the interviews and events he has to

I care about SEC Media Days because it's one time of year during the off season that the sports media pretends to care about Mississippi State University.
