Was just reading that part of Ash's success with the Bucs was converting them from a soft zone to a man to man with tons of QB pressure. It's designed to stop the pass first then the run.

After years of getting torched by the spread, sign me up!

yeah. i am excited to see another stifling D. it's been a while.

what i also like his D at OSU is that he said he wants to simplify things for his players. and make sure that the schemes match the talent. nothing worse than kids over thinking on the field, mainly due to being coached by people who really don't understand themselves. they tend to over engineer things.

Are you ready for some defense! That was the thing I miss from the Old days. Blitzing 5,6,7,8,9,10,11 who know how many guys...just need to stop giving up the 3rd and 20s

Hopefully we will truly see how inept Rossi was as a defensive coordinator. If not we are in deep sh*t here.

Ash and his DC will have to build a defensive scheme that fits the personnel we have. Gotta give him a couple/few years of recruiting before he can fully put his stamp on the D.

Used to love when Schiano would blitz 3rd and long only to get beat with an RB screen

Ben Axelrod, who covers the B1G for Bleacher Report tweeted:

Chris Ash took a defense that was a disaster and just lost two 1st round picks & made it one of the country's best. Great hire for Rutgers.
