Do you remember in 2011

we all wanted Russell to start over Ralph, then when it started happening it quickly became apparent that it was the same playcalling/schemes just Russell taking the snap (i.e. Russell running the read option)?

That's what I'm expecting out of Dak now.

I remember Ralph getting beat up in the Auburn game and having some injuries on the OL (that was already young), thus taking away our ability to run the football. I also think Ralph got hurt because he succumbed to the same thing that's hurting Russell....he didn't want to get hit. Wanted to try and drop back and pass more instead of focusing on his strengths. Which usually ends up in injury.

Yes I remember the idiots thinking Russell should be the QB over Ralph. Most people realized he should be because Ralph was banged up. But not the idiots.

I also remember people saying after the Auburn game last year, "BOYZZ WE FOUND OURSELVES A QUARTERBACK!!!"

This is revisionist history at it's finest. Am I wrong or did Russell not break all of our passing records last year? So apparently we did find a Quarterback. Of course don't listen to the "elitist." They will tell you that our defense was fine last year and that our offense held us back.

With 2012's offense (and 2013's defense), we win that game last Saturday. Chew on that for a second before we say changing Quarterbacks will help anything.

And it's patently idiotic to insinuate that Russell can't stand getting hit. He got hit over and over again last year, all the while throwing for more yards, more touchdowns, and fewer interceptions while taking fewer sacks.

He got concussed in the 1st quarter Saturday and he shouldn't have been allowed to keep playing. I'll concede that after that slide hit he looked gun shy, but I can't really blame him for that. We should have benched him, but I'm no doctor so what do I know? I'm sure he was saying he was fine even if he wasn't.

Bottom line, the OSU game confirmed one thing. Those that placed 2012's problems at the feet of the offense were flat wrong. Collins is showing just how badly Chris Wilson held us back. Quarterbacks have nothing to do with that.

What are you talking about? I'm a Russell fan. I wasn't insinuating we should change QBs. This comment:

I also remember people saying after the Auburn game last year, "BOYZZ WE FOUND OURSELVES A QUARTERBACK!!!"

....I guess should have had sarcasterisks by it so simple minded people could see that I was making fun of the people who loved Russell then but want to bench him now. Which, if I cared to look it up, would probably be a sizable portion of the board.

I do think he's trying to avoid contact, similar to Relf in 2011, Tebow in 2009, and seemingly all senior QBs who let the NFL creep into the back of their minds. That **** gets you injured. I am in NO WAY saying Russell isn't tough. He most definitely is. I did NOT say he could not stand getting hit, I said he didn't WANT to get hit. Quit making **** up.

And no, I don't think that Russell should have been starting QB in 2011 except for when Relf was hurt. And Prescott shouldn't be QB this year unless Russell is hurt, which he is at this point. I'm not dumb enough to think I know better than Mullen who the better QB is.

Most of our fans sure do. And when you call games like the one last week, you invite more doubt to creep into the equation. Doubt that makes you wonder what all the Prescott lovers are raving about. That's how it happens.

I think Matt Wyatt nailed it in his editorial

You have to simplify. If you look at this thread, you notice that the QB's are experiencing the same issues, year after year.

Simplify it where they don't have to think but at about 3 scenarios and it will become apparent. L

Look, Mississippi is at the bottom of the totem pole with respect to intelligence, but probably at the top when it comes to pure athleticism, based on population. Then take these athletes and stop trying to turn them into Bill Walsh clones. I've not been to one of our practices, but I would bet that there are lot of guys with headlights in their eyes, especially Morrow.

Lombardi ran about 8 plays and he drilled them and drilled them until they ran it correctly. Saban and Miles are from that same camp. When you watch Saban's teams, he's got a huge LT and he runs that play over him again and again until you have to bring up help and then he hits you.

We should be working on the read option this week until Prescott is a freakin' stud and holding that ball until the last second and then taking off with it, or backing up and firing opposite side.

As much as it pains me to say this, Wallace is pretty good at running this and it's due to Freeze running a simple system.

you're right......

Freeze has a simple system and he runs plays that are working over and over. Mullen finds a play that works and immediately tries something else. We have players, we're being outmanned in the pressbox and in the headsets.

oregon also only has about 10-12 plays they run out of different formations. it's about outlasting the D and tiring them out while running the plays to perfection.
