You are asking two different questions and depending on which one we answer the results may be skewed.

I expect to be #2 in the AP for UK. If the FSU/ND game is just terrible then maybe we hold it. I don't expect to. Hope I'm wrong.

I think our lead is sizable enough in the AP poll that we will remain #1.

However, I believe CBS has been using the stupid *** coaches' poll which means I don't think we will have a #1 next to our name when we play Kentucky.

do you think we will have #1 by our name when we play Kentucky

it is basically going off what joel coleman said on BSR, "it has always been a dream, but when MSU plays again they will have #1 by their name" I think there is a real possibility that we don't have a #1, so I just want to gauge what others think before the new poll comes out Sunday, before the FSU - ND game.

CBS uses whatever poll the team in the game is ranked higher in

I believe CBS has been using the stupid *** coaches' poll which means I don't think we will have a #1 next to our name when we play Kentucky.

They used the coaches poll in the Alabama-OM game because Bama was ranked #1 in it while they were 3rd in the AP. They used the AP poll in our game against Auburn because it was 2 vs. 3 instead of 2 vs. 6. I think we'll get jumped in the coaches poll if FSU wins but we'll remain #1 in the AP unless FSU lays the wood to Notre Dame. CBS will use whatever poll we're ranked higher in.

I think worst case is for FSU to beat Notre Dame, and for the Bears to trash Tennessee. In that case we might fall to #3. But we supposedly have a substantial lead, so it might not matter, but I fear it would because of FSU's reputation as a winner.

If ND beats FSU we should stay #1, especially if the Bears have a close game either way with Tennessee. After all, we've beaten 3 Top 10 teams in a row. If this scenario would hold with OM beating, but not dominating Tennessee, it would be MSU, OM, ND as 1,2, 3.

Best case would be, I think, for both FSU and the Bears to lose.

I'm thinking that even if FSU beats ND but plays awfully, they'll jump us. If ND beats FSU but looks bad doing it, we might have a 1/2 MSU/UM fest at the top of the polls.

Best case scenario: FSU and Ole Miss Lose
Likely best case scenario: FSU and Notre Dame is tight, and Ole Miss dominates.

Ole Miss dominating isn't going to put them in first, Tennessee just isn't good enough, but it may be enough to get some pollsters to put them above FSU.

I wonder if a team has ever taken first place in the polls and then dropped out without playing a single game to defend the position. Obviously I hope that doesn't happen to us, but it'd be one helluva trivia question.

FSU is likely to destroy ND....

which means that they could go back into the top spot.

I sort of hope one of the two school leaps us but only by a handful of votes. Thus we come out vs UK with a chip on our shoulder leading to total annihilation of the wildcats. Unlike some MSU teams from the past(i.e. Stansburys group lead by seniors Jarvis Varnado and Randy Stewart who after being ranked 25th only to lose at Arkansas actually had senior leaders say they played better without the pressure of being ranked.) I think this team expects to be highly ranked and takes it personally when they aren't.

I hope so. We can all now say we we've been ranked #1 before, now please put the chip back on our team's shoulder. I do not like mid-season accolades.

It depends on which team wins today.

If it is FSU, maybe we still have a #1.

If it is ND, the biggest football media darlings of all time... No number 1.

the outcome of the ellis shoe game today will have a bearing on how long it takes for kentucky to give up.
I am glad the game was moved to 2:30. Commonwealth at night is a different atmosphere.
