Do you want to expand the NCAA tournament?

The Office No GIF

We already have people who think being one of the 40th best teams constitutes a successful season we don’t need to give them more delusions.

No. I didn’t and still don’t like the play-in games. We should’ve just capped the AQ berths…new conferences without one should’ve gotten in line and waited for a conference to go kaput.

My strongest opinion is that it should be *exactly* 64 teams - the play-ins are chickenshiit. I wouldn't hate an expansion to 96 with the top 32 seeds getting a bye, but I'm also not dying to see that happen. Or even just expand to a full 128 and get rid of conference tournaments, those are usually so lackluster to me.

I want them to do away with conference tournaments, and instead have maybe 8 or more "play in" tournaments for bubble teams and small conference teams to earn a spot in the field of 64.

Oh, the seeding would be a nightmare, but instead of watching teams with losing records trying to win conference tourney games, we could watch legitimately competitive teams trying to prove their worth and get into the tournament.

Or, maybe I'm just expanding the tournament.

No. 64-team single elimination is perfect. I don't like the play-in games in Dayton, but I know there's no going back.

If I was in charge, I would go to 64 teams, all at-large bids. The auto bids for weak conferences would go to the NIT. There would be more quality teams in the NCAA tournament with better early round matchups. For example, the overall #1 would play a team with a NET in the 60s instead of a team with a NET in the 200s.

If you're going to expand it, go all the way and expand to 96. 2 auto bids per conference (regular season and tournament champ). First weekend would be Wed - Mon. Top 32 teams would get a bye, and the SWAC, etc. teams would actually have a chance in the 1st round.

I guess NIL is making little school better than the big schools and they are thinking they need more space.

I think it should be 512.
512>256>128>64>32>16>8>4>2>1
You wanna be a champion don’t lose *****. 9-0
First games are all played at the same time at 10:20 AM ET on a Tuesday on ESPN+ streaming just to test if they can handle the bandwidth.
the 1 seed vs 128 seed game would be riveting.

I could go for 128 and no conference tournaments
I'm all for eliminating conference tournaments. They're meaningless. But, like the football championship games, they're not going anywhere. They make money. And that's all that matters.

Hell yes. What fan doesn't want more games? Just don't watch the first couple rounds if it offends you.

Expand it, more games, more gambling, more hanging out with the baws.

I would rather them never expand it again. If they ever did expand it then 72 needs to be the max. The proposal of 96 that’s been tossed around would absolutely kill it.

You hit on the lack of any need for expansion here, in a way you perhaps did not intend.

It already is a 300+ team tournament.
