Do you want us to be good in Athletics?

Scott Stricklin says to do this:
<font color="#660000">There are
three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi
State reach its desired goals –

1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same</font>

If you aren't doing these things, then you are contributing the same amount to our athletics as Ole Miss fans are to our athletics... nothing. There are too many so called "die hard" fans that are doing none of these.

when you buy a MSU t-shirt - you are helping the university. Anything that is sold with MSU on it - MSU gets a cut.

If it's feasible for you finanically to do those 3 things that you listed, more power to you. Some people can't.

A 3-game ticket package is $75. Very few people can't afford that. I'm not suggesting that anyone has any obligation to do either of those, but for most that claim they can't, it's just a copout. They could, they just don't want to (which is fine).</p>

then I assume those people don't have HD TV's with $150 cable bills per month... but most do, and they can afford it.

Of course some people really can't afford $100... Those people are rare, and most likely aren't even reading this board.

and to equate someone's financial situation to being an Ole Miss fan is ridiculous to me.

There are other ways you can financially support athletics but I do agree the things you mentioned are the best way.

I agree joining the Bulldog Club is the easiest way to financially support the program. And also just wearing MSU gear around. People, including recruits and family members of recruits, will take notice if people show pride in their university through clothing, license tags, window stickers, etc.

That's not my point though. I understand that some people might not want to do that, and a that's fine. My point was that you said some people couldn't afford to join the Bulldog Club or buy season tickets. You can do both for $15/month. There's not many people who can't afford $15/month. Again, for those that choose not to, that's fine. You don't have to apologize to anyone for not joining the Bulldog Club or buying season tickets. Just spare me the ******** about how you can't afford it and tell me the truth which is that you choose not to.

I swear, some of you guys really think that the only place to live in the entire world is within easy driving distance of Starkville.

Living far enough away that you can't easily get to Starkville is a perfectly good reason for not buying season tickets. Hell, even if you live in Starkville and just don't want to go to the games, that's a perfectly good reason too. But you could afford to if you wanted to.

Remember... it's not feasible for these people who aren't doing it. If it is feasible, then there's no excuse for a fan not to be contributing to these things.

Back to your first point... You are right about there being other ways to support our athletics, but these are the methods outlined by our athletics leader. I'm just asking that our fans make help achieve this goal if feasible. There are so many state fans who aren't contributing their part.

and know you are contributing to the AD in a direct way. I haven't lived in or near MS in over four years but still am a season ticket holder. I go to one or two home games a year and either sell or give away the tickets for the other games. I don't expect others to take this approach but it works for me and for some other people. If we are ever going to become a consistent program overall, its going to take a change in attitude of why we can't do something to how can we do something.

tickets based solely on the price of the tickets. And Patdog is right, he has clarified this in the past. I forgot it was him who had done so.

I wouldn't rather watch at home. I moved down to lower level seat in the end zone one year but moved back up the next year because you can actually see the game. The only bad part about the upper deck is those damn ramps!

and perhaps the largest (right now). But I'd be willing to bet that a huge majority of those "fans" have never given a penny to the university, other than to buy Alabama clothing and car flags. That's true for a lot of other schools too.<div>
</div><div>And yes, you can buy a 3 game ticket package for $75 (or whatever) but that's just the beginning of the expense. If you live any distance at all, you're going to spend a lot in gas to travel, wear and tear on the vehicle, possibly a hotel room, food ... the list just goes on and on. So that $25 ticket will wind up costing $200-$300 most likely ... and a lot of people can't afford that. But that doesn't make them any less of a fan.</div><div>
</div><div>Scott's right in what he said, but it's just not in a lot of people's discretionary spending.</div>
