Clara could work. She seems like she'll be good for more lighthearted episodes, but Dr. Who is always best with the epic, serious story arcs that really draw you in (Bad Wolf, The Girl who Waited/The Centurion).
Yeah, the new girl is smoking. I really liked Amy, but they'd taken that character about as far as they could and she was beginning to get a little stale.
