It is incredible what Calipari has been able to do with freshmen dominated teams over the last 3 years. I cannot wait for him to get a team full of Renardo Sidneys that are major busts and see him get his *** kicked by everyone in the SEC.
Personally I still think Coach K and Tom Izzo are the best but Self does a hell of a job on a consistent basis.

Is it only the Derrick Rose year? I know that this makes his fourth Final Four, two of which haven't counted and the other one was just last year.
I know it sounds like I'm saying "he's a cheater so they don't count", but I'm really just curious. I didn't know he has made 6 of the last 7 Elite 8's. That's very impressive. </p>

I can definitely say this. I am absolutely, 100% jealous of die hard KU basketball fans (and no MissouriDawg you don't get to complain). The last few weeks here have been so much damn fun. I have seen on the news and personally heard 10s of KU fans say "this is great because we didn't even EXPECT to make it to the final 4 this time." I can't imagine what it must be like to so consistently win at this level.
Back to your question though, I think both have done an amazing job coaching this season but those jobs were extremely different. Cal has been able to make a bunch of new, highly rated players work as a team (seeSidney, Renardo to understand how tough that could be). Self has been able to make a bunch of guys who didn't play much last year, but were on the team, vastly overachieve. I personally think it may have been a bit harder for Self to accomplish this. Afterall, they have played from behind in multiple games during the tournament and he kept them going. The way that their big Witheyhas developed for this season is nothing short of unbelievable.

The UMass one in 1996 is gone because of Camby. So we finished #3 that year since there were only three teams in the Final Four. I would say it's just a matter of time before last year and/or this year are gone but I think he has it all figured out with World Wide Wes on how to just make a run every year with 3-5 of the best freshmen Nike's money can buy. I'm sure the UK fans love winning (clearly) but they've sold themselves out like a two-bit ***** to get to where they want to be.

The depth of good college basketball is better than ever but the very elite teams are not as good.Consider thisKY team together for three or four years. Now, just how good couldthey become? No, this is not the even close to the best KY team ever. They have some talent for sure and may have as much raw talent as any teambut they are still learning. They make way too many mistakes on the glass and on defense every gamethat would get cleaned up if they had time together. At times, it looks like they are playing in an all star game.
