Does any one feel like things are in our favor going towards signing day?

If we can't bring in one of the best classes ever this year, then by God, we may never bring in one of the top classes. We all know losing Hud and Diaz resulting in us losing some guys we would've liked to have last year. However, this year we are on the other side of the spectrum with Fedora's staff, Nutt's staff, Bama's OC, Auburn's DC, and Tenn.'s WR Coach all leaving. (with the possibility of Malzahn) The majority of our big name guys left on the board were being recruiting hard by the guys that are gone. I would like to think this will only help us, but then again, I should know better.

Assuming the entire staff stays intact, which would be the first time in a long time, added in with two straight bowl trips and three straight egg bowl victories, you'd like to think so. But, it's just hard to imagine having any more momentum than we did after going 9-4 last year, only to see our recruiting class go in the tank. Hopefully this year is much different, but you just never know 'til the ink is dry in February.</p>

The days of recruits feeling strongly about Ole Miss or State from an emotional standpoint are mostly over, and so having bragging rights on the Egg Bowl doesn't help all that much. It's true when we're winning, too, if we're not otherwise having a great season. Egg Bowl victories by themselves don't stir most recruits.

Every year there may be a few recruits with strong emotional dedication to one of the schools, but they're going to go to that school regardless.

Especially when a lot of the best recruits are from impoverished backgrounds where their parents didn't attend one of the schools, it doesn't carry a ton of weight.

and it has to be a factor if you are picking between the two schools. For certain kids that are staying in state, it matters. Considering that we both play in a division where four of the six teams are going to be top 25 year in and year out, that win will make or break a bowl at least once in that kid's career.

Downplay it all you want, but it matters.
