After the Bama victory over Texas I made a bet with a friend from church that Auburn would get in NCAA trouble soon. They are extremelydesperate to remove the "little brother" stigma from their football program. Lo and behold, after Bama climbs back to the top of college football, Auburn has it's best recruiting class in years (possibly ever) on the heels of a very mediocre season. Michael Dyer heads to the plains. They swoop in and nab Newton out of nowhere. It's obvious to anyone who's not blinded by loyalty or idiocy that the Auburn boosters pulled out all the stops to make sure they didn't get left in Saban & Bama's wake. I mean, basically the same thing happened about 18 years ago. To paraphrase Mike Golic...<div>
</div><div>If Cameron wanted to go to Mississippi State (confirmed), and Cecil Newton was actively looking for a handout (confirmed), then why did he go to Auburn?</div><div>
</div><div>The answer is the only part of this story yet to be confirmed. Auburn boosters rented the 17ing mule. When the investigation is over, the greatest season in Auburn's history is going to be vacated. If I was an Auburn fan, I wouldn't much care. If they win in Glendale, no governing body can take it away. It's not like the NCAA can change history. In short, the boosters will have gotten what they paid for.</div><div>
</div><div>As a State fan, it sucks because I think we would have had a chance to be in the same position had Cam made the choice instead of Cecil. Such is the life of a State fan. Except in 1941 of course...</div>
