Does anyone think that Sidney could be back next year?

If I thought he would get good advice from the people around him, I would say Yes, he will be back. But seeing as though I think he probably gets the worst of the worst by the idiots he's surrounded by, I will say NO. He'll probably opt for the NBA draft, not get drafted and we will never hear from him again. I hope I am wrong, but this is my prediction. I will live with the "consequences" if I am wrong.

I wish he would just resign himself to staying in college another year to build his body and get experience. I have serious doubts that this will happen.

And I dont think he will play a game this year. Even if he does get cleared, he wont be much of a factor this late. He hasnt played in a year and is nowhere near game shape. Everybody else is in top form from playing all year- he will be too far behind to matter.

Andy Katz tweeted this last week:

<span class="entry-content">If Sidney sits the year then he can go to the NBA since he would be a year out of high school, but atty says wants to stay at MSU.

I kept hoping we'd hear more detail on this, but we haven't. Does this mean he wants to come back no matter what happens the rest of this season? Does it mean he and his "team" wants him to stay or just he wants to? Regardless, it makes me think it's possible that he comes back.</span>

i think he listens to some stupid advice and tries to go pro and either doesn't get drafted or gets drafted really late. or he goes over seas for a year then comes back for the draft. either way, i dont see him staying here

If Sidney could find out before or very soon after this season is over that he would be eligible for next year then he could have an incredible opportunity to be the focus of the team. He would most likely start at the 5 along with Augustus, Johnson, Bost and Turner. With his size and skill level he would average a double double. Further, alot of the freshmen stars from Kentucky are most likely gone. Of cousre, I hate that I am even allowing myself to dream of this actually having a slim chance of happening.

You can call me crazy if you want, but I think he will be back. Chad Ford, ESPN's draft expert, has him ranked in the 90's of his Top 100 prospects. Also, people keep throwing Europe out there as an option, but I'm not sure how much of a real option that will be for him. European teams are not going to want to throw a guaranteed contract at a guy who hasn't played in a year or more in addition to someone who has had weight/conditioning/effort problems in the past. I could be wrong and he could jump to the draft, but I really don't think he has much of an option other than to come back next year.

I think he'll be back.<div>
</div><div>I'm trying to look at this from his point of view. If he wasn't interested in coming back, I think he would have bolted out of Starkville and headed to an European/D-league city. No sense in sticking around unless you have long term plans.</div>
