without Veazey out there pushing candidates for a yes or no? I'm sure the real candidates wont be moved either way by it, but if our A.D. wants this to be a private matter how can it help for Veazey to be pushing these people to commit publicly one way or another. I see it as only an aggravation to them that may possibly force a candidate to say less than the truth, or say no thanks instead of going through the process the way Byrne has in mind.

There is one way to stop it. If Byrne wants him to stop it, he can throw him a bone.

Any coaching candidate worth a damn is not going to be swayed by a reporter asking questions. They aren't going to say, "Yeah, I was headin' to Starkville, until that damn pesky Veazy kept calling....so screw MSU." These are career choices that are worth millions of dollars. Veazy is reporting the story, and nothing more.

Yeah Veazey is the only writer in the country that actually tries to get info from these coaches. I am sure they have never seen anything like it. Maybe Gene will call them up next and find out what their favorite pizza topping is. Now that is what I really want to know

...and I agree with what you said. I don't see how anybody could complain about him at this point. He is doing a great job, and is constantly blogging.

Veazey, Locke.... newsprint pussies....are PO's that they are on the outside looking in with Byrne. So, they play there little game and dig for info by other means... It's all about readers, bloggist, etc. and trying to make folks think they are worth something or know something.... Veazey is weasel... Totally in over his head!

What a dumb *** comment. Veazey is doing his job and coming up with as much info as possible for his readers

You can't be serious. If you are i think you should head back to The Pasture. I think the weekly "Bash Kyle" thread is about to start up over there.

You don't know a damn thing, apparently. KV is great at what he does and will most likely be hired away by a bigger paper just like all the CL's good beat writers in the past. He gives us more info, first than anyone else.

Gene is that you? Get real, man. Put down the Ole Miss connection conspiracy theories and open your eyes. Veazey is the best beat writer Mstate has had since Sekou Smith.

I just don't know why he needs to speak personally with these coaches when our A.D. seems to want it more tight lipped. I like Veazeys' blog.

It's kind of his job to try to get some information on who our next coach might be and report it. Reporters bugging the hell out of Nick Saban sure didn't keep him from taking the Bama job. And Kyle Veazey isn't going to stop anyone from taking the MSU job.

Every writer does it or they are not doing their job. I love how you are interested ion these rumors, yet you don't want the writers approaching anyone

Veazey (and Locke for that matter) do a great job... they do what beat writers are supposed to... people may not like their methods or some of the stuff they put out, but that's true with any type of media (radio, TV, print, etc.)

I only wish us TV people were able to have staffers that could do that type of thing... might actually gain the TV folks some credibility back :)

Kyle works for the Clarion Ledger and is paid to cover Mississippi State athletics. The coaching search is the biggest story at the moment. Greg isn't his boss so it shouldn't matter what he wants.

This is about as silly as people saying that what people say on message boards can really hurt or help the recruiting. For the 50th time, it is Veazey's job to find out as much information as he can, and he has to call these coaches to do it. Furthermore, the coaches he is calling know this as well. It's not like he calls up and says, "Hey this is Kyle from Mississippi and I want to know if you are going to be Mississippi State's next coach?" No, he calls, tells them who he is and what PAPER he works for, and then they give their answer.

Did you ever think the other day when they put all the reporters on one side of the road and the team on the other there was a reason. I'm just saying thankfully our new A.D. works at a different level, and I'm sure he will remember who works the hardest the same way he did when Cohen was hired and Veazey was informed from the start. I said before I think Veazey does a great job and I love his blog, so you all don't have to keep "ITS HIS JAWB"
