Ohio State needs to get by Meatchicken and Meatchicken State. They might beat the Wolverines, but I see them getting blown up by that Spartan defense.

If Ohio State is unbeaten, no. Everyone voting outside the southeast will do their best to keep the SEC out of the NC game.

Ohio state hasn't lost in 2 years. No way a 1-loss auburn should jump them, if Osu remains undefeated

Probably not. I just don't think there's the will to do that among the pollsters.

I think they would.

The human voters might not do it based on the principal of not putting a 1 loss SEC team ahead of an undefeated big name program, but they will have to really put some distance between Auburn and Ohio State if they want to overcome the computers.

Auburn was tied for 3rd (with Baylor who lost) in the computer rankings last week and was already AHEAD of Ohio State there. If they beat Alabama I think they are at worst 2nd in the computer rankings and might even end up first ahead of FSU.

Last week in the AP Auburn was 138 votes behind Ohio State. This week they closed the gap to 79 votes. Last week in the Coaches Poll Auburn was 259 votes behind Ohio State. This week they closed the gap to 160 votes. Auburn was .1009 behind Ohio State in the BCS last week and I expect that gap to close considerably with Auburn moving up to 4th most likely.

Beat Bama, beat either SC or Mizzou in the title game and you WILL see Auburn in the National Championship.

No. And they shouldn't. If FSU and OSU are the only 2 undefeated teams, they should play for the title.

Disagree

Ohio State's schedule is a joke. Should Northern Illinois be in the national championship if they go undefeated as well and FSU or OSU lose? Auburn's resume would be much much better, and beating 2 top 5 teams the last 2 games of the season is deserving of a national championship bid at 12-1.

I think this is strictly hypothetical, though, as I think Bama is going to blast Auburn.

ETA: I don't think Auburn would jump them happen, by the way.

We agree on this. Auburn's gotten their record with smoke and mirrors. Bama will win easily. Also, I won't feel too sorry for OSU if they get left out. They can't help their conference schedule, but if you're in the Big 10 and schedule Buffalo, San Diego St., Cal, and Florida A&M, you're just asking to get left out.

Gameday reported that nothing would stop a 1-loss SEC champion from playing in the CG.

I bet they would, which is funny considering the genius post last week about how a playoff system would be better for the SEC. Better question is would Mizzou?

I think they probably would, and as much as I hate Auburn, I think it would be hilarious, bc 17 Ohio State.

Like others, though, I think Alabama beats Auburn, making the question moot.

The only way I see Ohio State not getting jumped is if a two loss South Carolina wins the SEC, or if Missouri wins the SEC by beating Auburn in a very sloppy game. It's stupid, but college football is the only sport where the perception of your football program counts more than wins on the field. Ohio State tried to slip in the NCG on an easy record.... Have fun in the Rose Bowl Buckeyes.
