It will only last until Sat. and then UK will wax UL in Rupp and all will be well with the world.

for a short time until we lose our first 4 road games in the SEC .. I just dont see how this team is gonna win road games against SEC officiating... yikes. you think this OSU game was poorly officiated.. just wait until FT numbers are our opponent 34 and us 5.

Yeah that's actually what I'm waiting for next - him to start ripping into fans and defending players, making it look like we're dumping on them.

I actually don't have a single problem with any players, and never have. My issue is with Cal and his new, lowered expectations every year. Until we win another title I'm not interested in next year's class, or getting upset at officiating, or anything else other than the product he puts on the court this year. He didn't even bother filling out the roster - we have baseball players to practice against for crying out loud.

When is the last time he fielded a team that looked like it was built to win it all? With what he's paid, that should happen every 2-3 years - it's been 5 and counting...

Frustrated Maybe. Disgruntled No. Tell me what other College program hasn’t had it’s ups and down years. Tell me what other program has dominated College Basketball in the last 10 years. None of them have. Not even Darling Duke. 3 players drafted in top 10 including Super Zion and they couldn’t even make the final 4. Every team loses. Every team has skids where they don’t look good. Luckily this year there are no GREAT TEAMS. You hope to make the Tournament and get hot for 6 games.

In 5 more years, will you be okay with us having "dominated College Basketball" for the previous 15 years, with only 1 title to show for it? Because that's where we're headed.

Yes Cal did great his first 5 years, and earned our respect and patience. He's used up that goodwill over the last 5 years though.

Guy come on. The monk fox bam team was a great team. If we beat Carolina in the Elite 8 , we cut the nets down. 2015 was built to win it all as well. 2010 was. 2011 wasnt but made final four. 2012 obv was. 2013 was rough but noel got hurt and kante wasnt able to play. 2014 was but struggled then made it to title game. 2015 nearly ran the table. 2016 was rough . 2017 was a wonderful team with depth and shooters . Loved Derek willis and Dominique Hawkins with issac coming off bench as well, with monk fox and Bam. Also weynan gabriel. 2018 was rough , struggled all year with the whole jarred Vanderbilt thing. Last year we had a nice run, was a 2 seed and had a great chance to win it. This year looks to be a rough year. No shooters. In todays game , you need shooters. There no if ands or buts about it. Next year's team looks loaded. Askew is a pure PG. Clarke is natural scorer. Bj boston is great. Ware fletcher and isiah look like great complementary pieces. Add the hold over of probably IQ, Keion Brooks, and probably Kahlil whitney , and I firmly belive we will be in the running for bare bones minimum a 3 seed in tourney with a shot to cut the nets down. To say we dont have a team every 3 years that can go all the way is preposterous. I'm as pissed as the next guy knowing this team doesnt seem like it has the manpower and talent to go deep, but you never know once tourney starts. (Assuming we make it lol ). , however , let's try and be somewhat realistic please. Thanks

If you’re unhappy the solution is very simple. Stop watching. Stop going to games. Stop supporting a bad product. Find something else to do with that time.

And to be clear, this isn’t a “well then go be a fan of someone else reeeee” response. I understand the frustration. For what Cal is paid we are underperforming on the court. We’ve been a legit contender 1 of the last 5 years now. We’ve been a top 5 team 1 of the last 5. Maybe 2 though I’d argue there were at least 5 teams better by the end last year.

But as long as you keep investing time, money and emotion into the product, the manufacturer isn’t going to change anything and you’re actually part of the problem

Also it’s not just Kentucky and cal we should have issue with. That officiating is awful and we need to stop supporting that as well. Because no matter how much we ***** about it, as long as they keep making money off of us it doesn’t matter.

So you agree that it's been at least 5 years since Cal built a team that looked worthy of a title, and that's my issue. We can "what-if" all day long - a bad call here, an injury there, etc - but we pay our coach a ton of money to build teams that scare people. We haven't done that in a long time now, and we have to stop looking to the next year's freshmen as the saviors of the program. Talk about being realistic - that's no longer it.

I didn’t say we have dominated College Basketball. I said No program has dominated College Basketball. This year is no different.

Agreed, and unfortunately that's where I and a lot of other fans are these days. I just DVR the bigger games now and watch them if we win - I can't handle the poor offense and even worse officiating to watch it live. I'll still watch the others live, although Evansville and Utah have me rethinking that one too. I used to also travel to 2 SEC road games a year that are near me but haven't done that in about 5 years now. SEC road games are 50/50 now with the teams that Cal is building, and that's not good enough to warrant tickets/time anymore.

You come on this board and criticize Cal, you get labeled a hater. Having said that, in my experience everyday, I have encountered countless fans who have grown tired of this. You can say whatever you want, but the reality is fans are growing tired of this act. To think things are all peaches and cream just isn't what I'm hearing everyday from people I encounter.

I think he probably thinks most are crazy, stupid, and just generally hillbilly-ish.

And no, he doesn’t give a rip about how fans feel. Especially with that lifetime contract.
That was THE worst mistake in the Mitch era. It's like giving a 10 year contract to an aging 34 year old pitcher.

I have not reached the point about Cal that I did with Tubby, YET. But I can see it coming in 2-3 years unless something changes.
This feels like 06 where some want him gone, some want him forever, but most want him to wake up to the unrest and start making changes.

Cal isn't close to losing the fan base. Thats just dumb. But if he keeps on with this stuff he will. Hes got to make changes that put UKs goals first. Losses will happen. But people are pissed rignt now because those losses feel like a preventable byproduct of the system he's set up.

Whether you would like to admit it or not, winning the NCAAT involves a GREAT deal of pure unadulterated LUCK!! UK is NOT a lucky team. We almost never get good bounces or good calls, and it defies the laws of probability. There have been several recent years when we should have cut down the nets, and someone put a lid on the basket! (classic example, 1984) I cannot explain it, but I do not believe it to be random chance.

Based on what I have just said, THIS year's team is exactly the type that COULD win it all. IF THEY GET LUCKY. They have all the moving parts, but we need the right bounces, the right draw, no untimely injuries, made free throws!, the right officials, and a dramatic increase in our overall basketball IQ. Amazingly, it could happen. I wouldn't bet the house though....

Do we really have all the moving parts? One thing we've learned about this team is that they get up for the big games and not so much for lesser quality opponents. The sec road games can always be a challenge with every venue being sold out, playing teams that we expect to beat, and referees. With that being said, I think the upcoming Louisville game is a big game for this team from a confidence standpoint. Rupp Arena will be rocking!

His focus is being able to get 5 star kids year after year and getting them to the NBA. Going deep in the tournament is secondary and anything after that is cheese on the cake. Does not seem like the type that worries about the fans much. Wants to do good for them but not a priority.

The type of players he generally gets and the quality depth he normally has gives him an advantage if he used it the best way. Wearing people down and getting a lot of transition baskets off turnovers should be the way to go about it. Not playing half court slowing the game down and helping all the teams that doesn't have the depth we do all the time.

He is stubborn so don't think anything will ever change his philosophy. With the advantages of recruiting and us being Kentucky, we should be blowing a lot more people out than what we do. Just not gonna happen a lot playing the type of game that helps our opponents the most.

Good news is I don’t see many of our current crew on the draft boards. Lots of fall off.
Bingo..What these ball hog guards need to understand is ..When they play as cal says "wanting to get theirs" UK loses and drops in the polls, and they fall off the NBA draft boards...

A bigger question is how the boosters feel about this? For all of the money he's being paid they can't be pleased with the recent results.
