Does Chris Wilson ask our safeties to do too much?

Mitchell struggled last year under Wilson, but played pretty well under Diaz.

Broom/Nickoe both struggled this year and we know that they are both more than capable, athletically, to play the position.

Is it me... or is Chris Wilson asking them to do too much?

I don't think Mitchell struggled last year after watching Nikoe and Broomfield this year ... but to answer your question, yes I think Wilson was leaning way to much on them especially with no pass rush ... seldom did Wilson send the LB's or corners

I think our D line is asking them to do too much by not getting any pressure. Safeties live off mistakes, which cant happen when a QB has all day to throw to perfectly run routes because we also cant bump anyone at the line on account of playing 15 yards off the 17ing ball.

This was pathetic coaching on both sides of the ball. See my rant on offense earlier

I don't know. But I do know that Corey and Nickoe spent most of the season running around in the secondary like chickens with their heads cut off and that's on Wilson. You have to put in a scheme that your players can be successful at. I just don't think our players bought in to this passive defense that Wilson ran this year.

Yes, he does.

But he asks everyone in our zone coverages to do too much. LBs, too. My personal belief is that, unless you're down in the red zone where the space is already limited, you shouldn't play zone very often at all without bringing pressure in front of it. If you give the QB time to throw, the zone will stretch over time and if he's worth anything he'll find a hole.

The other issue is that Nickoe is obviously not himself still. He used to be extremely fast; this year he's been a step or two slow on all the plays he used to make. Now hopefully another year lets him recover, but the combination of him not being himself and being asked to do way too much in coverage was painful to watch all year.
