Sha has done a terrible job with point guards. He actually does better job with bigs than point guards. Insane for a former point guard.
Counterintuitively I think it can sometimes be difficult for great athletes to coach someone at the same position they played: when you're really great the game might just come to you more intuitively than it might a lesser player and/or you may not know how to coach a player with less talent who simply can’t do all of the things you did (or at least not as easily).

I’m reminded of (the probably apocryphal story about) some advice given by Stan Musial to a young Curt Flood: “ "You wait for a strike, then you knock the **** out of it."”

Perhaps the approach the Stan Musials of the world can take. Not so much for us mere mortals.

While I feel the season is over from NCAA tourney view, we are still pretty close to the bubble at this point but obviously trending the wrong way. We would need to win all games against bad BE teams, then hope to upset SJU at home or Creighton/Nova on the road. Get to at least 12-8 in BE, 22-9 overall. Think would put us on bubble, might not be enough and not sure we can even get there.

not including the big east tournament.

Win every game and split with @ UCONN/Nova and we’re on the bubble and probably in as a 10 seed but wouldn’t be surprised to be an 11 seed play-in

Win every game but lose both @ UConn/Nova and we’ll be on the bubble but out

Any other losses elsewhere and you can truly forget it.

The last week was crushing to the topline. At the moment they don't have the team chemistry on the court to get this done. Sha's resistance to any changes is not helpful. Any loss now is 2 steps in the wrong direction. There are some chances for Quad 1 wins, but not an easy task.

So, I believe the key will be to achieve 7 wins by the time they play SJU on the last night of the season. Not impossible, but the way they are playing is not inspiring. Also, The BigEast Tournament could now be paramount to any chance they may have. That could mean staying away from UConn's side of the bracket. UConn at MSG is an away playoff game.

Clark is 4th in the BE with 4.5 assists per game on a very poor shooting team. They are last in shooting. Probably on any other team in the BE he would be close to being #1 in assists. So that metric is important in judging how your point guard is doing. Sure he has other issues but he is doing what a point guard is supposed to do. He was never a 3 point shooter and that is not going to change. He needed to be surrounded by 3 point shooters and he was not!
Clark has become the easiest PG to defend, He's not finishing strong at the rim and he loves the mid range fade away all while taking a total of 3 attempts from behind the arc in conference play. For crying out loud even Josh Rivera has 2 attempts in conference play. Take away his midrange jumper and let the 5'8" guard take it to the rim into the trees or dare him to shoot from 3. He's the engine that makes this team go and without him we're lost. But it's been made way to easy for other teams to cut off the head of the snake here.

His height would not be a problem if he had 3 guys playing with him who could make shots from long and mid range. Just saying.

Thanks for getting that stat of 3 attempts in conference play. It's just ridiculous that both he and the coach don't see how important it is to at least make that part of the arsenal. It's not that far of a shot on the college level. He has good form on his midrange. Have some dam confidence. It would keep the defenders honest and would create more spacing. He doesn't even work hard enough to get to a spot to take a three. Also, if he is to be the PG for next year can we expect this deficiency in the offensive system once again? Personally, I don't think his shot from three is that bad.

In BE play that goes down to 3.4 per game.

Clark is the catalyst, but has been very up and down.

In BE games he’s only 7th in assist rate (actually good given our offense 🤣) and 18th in shot % - also highest on SHU, which has increased since non-con. So I can see what Sha is saying. But he’s only .380 from 2PT, has taken 3 attempts from 3, and only had a 94.2 rating.

If things haven’t gone south enough. Our 2nd, 3rd and 4th best wins keep getting worse

Creighton getting crushed by Marquette
Another loss for Kansas State
Providence losing to UConn.
