Don't call it a comeback. It's been here for years!

From AI:

"The Quincy's Family Steak House in Starkville was located at
409 MS-12 E
  • The building that housed Quincy's was later occupied by Barnhill's.
  • It was eventually demolished and replaced by a Burger King.
AI couldn't give me a location of the Bonanza though
Had many a high school football pregame meals in there. Hamburger steak, potato and A1. Coaches literally had to shut off the yeast rolls so guys wouldn't puke.

In the younger days, I still remember the day I discovered the 'Country Sideboard', and was like "I can have all I want of this now?" rather than eating a single plate that I had to wait on.

Steak sauce is an abomination for good steaks, but it's must have for a place like Sizzler.
Agree on steaks but Heinz 57 is great on a cheeseburger. I regularly use it in place of yellow mustard in my condiment rotation.

Steakhouses that need to make a comeback:
Steak & Ale
Sizzlin
Western Sizzlin (was based out of Augusta, GA)
Sizzler
Ryans
Golden Corral (before they ruined the concept)
Ponderosa
Bonanza
Texas Roadhouse (need more locations in the land mass between Louisiana and Alabama)

Does anybody remember the restaurant next to Danver's that had "Golden" in its name in the 70's. Great eats there.

I've got good news for you, buddy:

Steak & Ale is BACK

FWIW, Steak & Ale is now owned by Bennigans, which they are also trying to bring back to relevance. Monte Cristo with powdered sugar and jelly, anyone???????

Oh, and PS, I heard TRH is indeed coming to a town near you as well, although people around here probably won't care about that.**

Like Cochise, I learn something every day too. S&A will probably never set foot in Mississippi because we are still just a land mass and TRH left Jackson back during Covid and probably is not coming back although they could make a fortune in the Madison area. BTW, the Monte Cristo was great.

I don't think there's ever been a TRH in Jackson (yet). Maybe you're thinking of Logan's or Lone Star?

And there was a Steak & Ale on I-55 in Jackson back in the 70's. Not sure when it left, but it got replaced with Perkins, which went dark and got replaced by Luby's/Fuddruckers, and which is now empty again but under construction. It's a tough location now, changed a lot since the 70's.

I never saw the TRH in the Jackson metro but I've had quite a few life-long Jackson people tell me that it was here, but they can't tell me where. Forgot about Perkins. The corporates need to forget Jackson for now and go to Madison county for success. Hell, we don't even have a Marco's pizza in Mississippi's largest metro area.

we always called it "What's This Here Sauce"
Believe it or not, my son likes it on popcorn and French fries.

I gave up trying to influence anyone a long time ago. I ordered my brother a steak. He probably covered it with A1 sauce. I think I visibly shuddered. I said nothing about the abomination out loud, but I was dying inside.

Went to one of the nicest steak houses in Dallas about 15 years ago. Guy with me put Heinz 57 on an aged steak that was about $140. He says I DON'T CARE THAT'S HOW I WANT IT. šŸ˜‚

Bonanza was on the corner of Hwy 12 and Eckford Lane and Shoney's was on the other corner. Baskin Robbins was also in the same building as Bonanza.
Im pretty sure Bonanza closed in the late 1990's.

That steak and Ale was where we took our prom dates back in the 1980s, and I think all of us ordered our steak well done. We were fancy.
