But the UK beat writer published a recording of the press conference where Stans talked about the former player that transferred to the Cats. I guess he got mad when Stansbury kept saying he'd been misquoted.

ETA: The recording is very grainy. I had to listen to it a couple of times just to make out words.

Stansbury says he was misquoted. He was not.

Trust me, I’m tired of talking about this. I wasn’t the least bit interested in making an ongoing series out of Rick Stansbury’s controversial comments on UK reserve Twany Beckham. After initially posting the comments and then writing a blog about how they came to be public, and Stansbury trying to explain it all away by saying he was “taken out of context,” the story should’ve been over.

But then Stansbury talked to Larry Vaught of vaughtsviews.com yesterday before Mississippi State’s game against UK and said some things that I can’t just ignore. He said he was “all misquoted.” Stansbury added that his words were “totally misrepresented” and that it was “bits and pieces of what was said.” No, no and no.

Let’s just put this to bed once and for all. Here’s the audio of Stansbury talking at the beginning of his press conference Monday.

Rick Stansbury on Twany Beckham

You’ll notice at the end there that someone tries to make Stansbury’s comments retroactively off the record, which doesn’t work, by saying, “This press conference has not started yet, by the way.” That’s interesting, since the local Associated Press writer told me last night that the school’s streaming video feed had already begun when Stansbury made the Beckham comments and MSU went back and edited that part out later.

Whatever you think about whether Stansbury’s remarks should’ve gotten out, you can hear for yourself that he said every word. He should’ve just owned it and moved on.

that our f'n basketball coach is a walking, talking F-up. This recording won't add to the 90% and it won't reduce the 10% hangers on.

And, yes, the pack probably represents about 10-15% of the fan base, I realize that.
