Because usually they don't have to ask for this kind of information to render a decision. If they back down, this case won't change anything from the athlete's side of things. Players who follow Sidney will only look him and say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," and keep on doing things the way they've been doing them for years.. which is essentially keeping it off any record or document that can legally be found by the NCAA. If anything, it will only encourage the NCAA to be more proactive and watchful of young talent. But that's about it. The Sidneys haven't done anything that plenty of mothers and fathers haven't done already. Hell, the NCAA can look through Renardo's trash if they want to, but all they're gonna find is empty hot dog packages and more garbage. Right now, Sidney is clean on legal paper and that's all that matters.
If this is true, and he suits up for us in November, are our basketball expectations higher than Mississippi's in football? I think so. But to be honest, I don't believe we're out of the water just yet.
