I found out tonight that from all reports that the NCAA can't find anything on Sidney. He will be ruled as an amateur.

I think 6 packers specialize in shooting the messenger when potential good news turns into bad news.

That's what's up in the air now. His amateur status. Once he is ruled an amateur, he can play.

the NCAA has asked for bank records. And those have not been provided. They have established this fact publicly. The NCAA cant just back down now, or they will set a precedent that will bite them in the *** in the future.

has the NCAA EVER believed in using precedent? That is my biggest complaint about them. We have a kid borrow $150 from a booster/family friend for 20 minutes so the tire shop can start working on his truck until his parents get there and he gets suspended for two games. A Bama booster gives a kid an Escalade for two years but he returned it so it's all good, no missed games. Those guys don't give a **** about precedent and they never have. IF, and that's a big if, Sydney is ruled a amateur without the bank statements it is because the NCAA knows he will sue, and they know they will lose. They have no legal right to the information they are requesting and they have nothing on Sydney himself.

I'm not saying nothing shady happened but I don't see how they nail Sydeny because his father took money for a job he did. You can argue he got paid WAY more than the job was worth but really is that Sydney's fault? Is it even his dad's fault? You want to pay me $50,000 to help run a basketball camp for one weekend I sure as **** am gonna take that. But if I actually work, who is to say it's wrong? (Keep in mind that this is different from a school/booster paying his father to do a job.) Will be interesting to see how it pans out. I don't think the NCAA can possibly win, they can certainly stall until it doesn't matter but I don't see them winning (unless Sydney's lawyer screws up).

Because usually they don't have to ask for this kind of information to render a decision. If they back down, this case won't change anything from the athlete's side of things. Players who follow Sidney will only look him and say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," and keep on doing things the way they've been doing them for years.. which is essentially keeping it off any record or document that can legally be found by the NCAA. If anything, it will only encourage the NCAA to be more proactive and watchful of young talent. But that's about it. The Sidneys haven't done anything that plenty of mothers and fathers haven't done already. Hell, the NCAA can look through Renardo's trash if they want to, but all they're gonna find is empty hot dog packages and more garbage. Right now, Sidney is clean on legal paper and that's all that matters.

If this is true, and he suits up for us in November, are our basketball expectations higher than Mississippi's in football? I think so. But to be honest, I don't believe we're out of the water just yet.

from a source in the athletic department that unless his lawyer cooperates with the NCAA soon, Sidney will never wear Maroon and White.
