never trust a jury. They're so damn unpredictable anything can happen. All they'll likely hear is "drunk," "dead," and "old man." Throw in the fact Stallworth is a millionaire NFL WR, and you've got the recipe for a sympathy conviction no matter what the experts say. As a prosecutor, I'd love to take Stallworth's scenario to the jury.

and they probably have enough evidence to be considered sufficient to support a conviction on appeal, that is, enough evidence for the jury to reasonably infer that the crime happened. i think both sides got what they wanted out of the deal. i just didn't know that the police said "even a sober person would've hit the guy" - that's a major point for the defense, but probably not enough to have the charges dismissed.</p>
