What you working with?

I don't even have home speakers, haven't since college. I guess that sucks, but I'm rarely at home in a music environment.

I give my special listens the Headphones treatment, refuse to listen to any YouTube computer speaker garbage.

Sounds fun though, and a great path to a divorce and/or Cops being called. :sunglasses:

Not much. Just a decently powerful receiver and some big bookshelf speakers with a 10 in sub. Sounds pretty big. Quality could be cleaner.

Home audio is a good place to blow money. You would like that opportunity. I'm actually thinking about setting up a sonos setup eventually. Got one speaker as a gift and never fooled with it, but a wireless whole house setup sounds great.

14-15-16 hell of a way to end an album.

Idk how people like Kanye or Jay can listen to this and not feel weird.

Yep. Those last 3 tracks made me turn around and start again.

Animals is a classic Dre sound.

Darkside/Gone is still my favorite after 3 listens

Yea animal is the one where he teamed up with DJ Premier. What a duo. How much would you pay just to watch one of their sessions?

Definitely sounds better non stop. First part sounds like he's telling everybody how great he is and how he works so hard. Then Compton boys like Cube, Snoop, Xzibit, and Kendrick come in and get gangsta on yo ***** *** as they rep Dre and The West.

That's my expert interpretation about halfway through my first full listen. It's lit af.

Snoop sounds like he was influenced by em. Sounds wicked. Then Jon Conner kills it. Bodies it.

Oh ****, now Game comes out flaming, just bouncing all over the track in a 64 with guns waving, smiling. Then he flips and task like an entirely different person. Rihanna sounding chick finishes it off. That song is fly as ****.

Ok, now Love of Money. I would make it one of the singles. The obvious sample, the hook is *dope*. Beat more modern sounding. Sounds like it could've been on GKMC. Professional ****.

That parts my favorite section: #8-12. Crazy big time rap ****.

It's beautiful outside; looks like it's raining money, man.

Satisfiction is saucy. Dre starts to show off towards the end the album. Good stuff. Hook lil corny. Great lyrics. King Mez sounds better rapping calm.

Animal needs radio play. That's a single. That could help bring good rap back, and it's relevant subject matter.

KL in Genocide is my favorite. "F*ck your momma, f*ck your daddy, f*ck your dead hommie."

Em is up there though. Dirty.

I love "It's all on me." Old School smooth with tons of Dre. That would be the track for Nate.

Deep Water
Diary
For the Love of Money
Genocide
Its all on me
Animals

For the radio: It's all on me or Talking to my Diary

For non radio it has to be Satisfiction or Animals. Snoop on Satisfiction is the type of verse that calls out the BS in rap. Give me that snoop paired with Dre all/air.

Best beat: Just another day

So. I'm going in a different direction in my review. IF this is really Dre's swan song, he's going out in style. He gave a nod to his roots, but he stayed far, far away from The Chronic (excellent move). When he first started, think gin and juice in plastic cups. 'Compton' is gentrified...think cognac in a snifter. I really enjoyed this one. It's true hip hop, but it's hip hop for grown folks. He's not insulting anyone's intelligence. I'm nit-picking here, but if this is it, Dre should have been out front more. I know he's comfortable being the facilitator of collaboration, but this is a DRE release. I wanted more of The Man himself.

Going to be bumping this for a LONG time. As of today I'm digging 'Animals' but long term..my fav will probably be "Loose Cannons"

Same here, but I guess hearing dre is really in the production value and beats, since when we literally "hear" him (voice), they aren't really his words anyway, but one of his writers.

I DO like Darkside, but I run with the track that refuses to go away in my brain. Darkside will take Animals spot in due time!

True. But the total Dre package involves his voice as well. If this wasn't his 'last' release I'd be totally fine with what we got.

On a second listen I do hear Dre on track #2 after all, his voice just got kinda soft in his old age....

Maybe this won't be his last release. 7 years, 16 years, ....????? I'm expecting the next one around age 75.

Wtf. The album was terrible. Dre was barely on it and didn't even sound like himself when he was. Biggest thing is the beats weren't good at all.

I feel sorry for any idiot that spent money on it. It doesn't come close to touching 2001.

Comparing it to 2001 isn't fair stop doing that to yourself. Youll have the songs on your ipod so dont act like you won't

I'm a hip-hop simpleton and aim to stay that way since I'm a 39 year old white guy. However, I wouldn't be surprised if "One Shot One Kill" doesn't get some airplay in football stadiums throughout the country this fall.

"You are now not in the presence of nice guys"
sounds like some cold blooded stuff to play over the loud speakers on 3rd and long.

Lol at Zaytoven. Please exit & go jam that Dirty 7up 3 or whatever that you produced.

RIP Sean P. Social media is so weird with deaths....dude was laying in bed tweeting his fans all night, then finally goes to sleep and never wakes up. Damn.

-The Weekend DJ's on XM were loving some 'Genocide', mainly the opening banging instrumental...must have heard it mixed into various sets 15 times over the weekend.

Yeah, a few songs have unfortunate endings. But Dre has always wanted his albums to have a "movie" type feel, so it's just something you have to live with I guess.

Love when he just shows off and lets the beat ride out on its own for an extended time at the end. (Money, Diary, Issue, etc)
