Dre Applewhite to transfer. Ray's bench gets thinner.

We're an injury away from being very thin again. Ready, Sword, Freddy, Ware, Borchert, Roquez and Bloodman better eat their Wheaties.

When are we going to fire Stansbury so this problem will end?

That sucks, he wasnt some elite talent, but I liked his size and he seemed like he belonged on the court.

And he was getting solid PT. Very curious unless its a grade or family related move

He was in the program for an entire year before this season...

If it was a chemistry issue/teammates issue/playing style issue I would think that would have been discovered in the first year.

Too bad for our depth.

Transfers are a fact of life in college basketball, for all programs. People criticized Stans for having players transfer, but it is going to happen. They key is to be able to recruit to replace them and that should include incoming transfers.

Transferring to where? I think that is the key to what this transfer means.

Was he a highly recruited guy who could transfer to a major college based on potential?

1 of the 4 spots just opened up. Sign Pollard today. Would you rather have 3 years of Dre Applewhite or 2 years of Devonta Pollard?

As simple as this

concept (and factual) is, there were (are) many dubmasses that constantly berated Stansbury for it.

Help out a non-recruitnik. To whom might those other spots belong?

I criticized Stans for not simply having transfers, but WHO was transferring. And at the start of the mass departure, it hadnt yet become a trend in CBB.
Criticizing a coach for players leaving so they can get into a program that has PT is dumb. But players who leave that are getting lots of PT, players who have terrible attitudes, and players who wont listen to coaching- all that is on the coaches. They recruited those personalities.
Recruiting is hit and miss, so a coach just needs to suck it up when they end up signing players with bad attitudes, and try to learn from it.

eta- Great point on signing transfers too. Iowa State has made a killing on transfers over the last 4 years. Getting one every year that has experience would be great. I would take a transfer from Central Florida or wherever that scored 12ppg on 45% shooting every day versus a random 2* or 3* spring HS commit.

Most college basketball fans ...

Transfers are a fact of life in college basketball, for all programs.

fully understand that there are going to be transfers ... both into and out of every program. It's just a fact of life.

What I DON'T understand is ONLY having eight active scholarship players going into SEC play for the second year in a row.

And they did so despite fact after fact that it happens everywhere in college basketball. The dubmasses you are referring to hated Stansbury for various reasons. But the one common denominator was they wouldn't know a college basketball coach from a plumber.

When did it become a trend in college basketball. Do you have facts to back that up or did it become a trend when you noticed transfers at MSU?
