He was a RS at UCONN, so he is finishing his fourth year of school. So I guess we won't know whether that might happen until a bit later on. Kids name is Folorunso Fatukasi. Absolutely no idea as to whether it's just a rumor that was based on a couple of mentions on the web. Would imagine that he would strongly contend for the NT spot. Imagine him with the Davis Twins and Mick playing the two DE spots.

Sharpe and Benning didn't mention anything specific to the UConn DT, but Sharpe mentioned this morning about graduate transfers and just transfers in general are things that get overlooked with national signing day. Obviously they don't necessarily happen at the same time, but there can be some moving parts this spring. Hopefully if any happen for Nebraska, they could be a nice addition at a position needing depth.

Scholies are open because we did not get a couple of recruits we wanted.

If we can get some transfers to make up for that then great. But if Lewis and Calvin and Lenoir and Robinson had committed, we wouldn't be having this conversation
The only guy that we really thought we were getting was Calvin. The other guys the coaches knew were long shots other than Robinson and I'm not sure he still had an offer. We would have found room for Lewis or Lenoir but I suspect they knew it likely wasn't happening. I had heard as high as 23 IF the right guys pulled the trigger. I also think this opens up the possibility of a late qualifying JUCO or grad transfers. This on paper looks like a great class as it is to me.

It is a great class! I love it. Full of great athletes, including a top QB.
But let's not pretend that offering 20 scholies was part of some preconceived plan. It wasn't. They wanted to give out more and Riley himself, weeks ago, said 22 or so was the goal.

I agree. The goal was 22. But the plan B wasn't a warm body, so there is that.

I have no doubt that the coaches wanted to get to 22 today. That would have been awesome! But it appears they didn't panic either with last second offers to players that realistically won't see the field.

Disappointed we didn't fill the class, but glad there weren't any reaches either.

Coaches have known for quite some time the above players weren't coming. I have no problem keeping a couple out there for grad transfers. That seems to be the rage now in college sports.

But you couldn't fill with 22 guys and still wait on those last 5 west coast guys now could you. Hindsight we should have probably cut bait with Calvin but when the kid goes on national media and commits to you, you kind of have to think he's coming. They were pretty sure they were getting Blades apparently and they left a spot for Lenoir that they thought they had a pretty good chance with. I think they wanted the WR that went to Utah to wait until after Lewis and the others announced but he didn't. IMO IF he had waited, he would have been N.

Excellent post...they could have filled with another 2-3 players but made the decision not to do so and I understand that completely.

Yes I think your analysis of what happened is probably spot on.

Don't get me wrong. As I said above I love this class. Best class we have had in years. The issue of numbers is just a nitpicking trifle. We got some studs today

After the amount of time and effort this coaching staff has put into the recruiting process, do people really wonder if we are courting a Top 100 college player from UConn that has already played in a 3-4 scheme under our new DC?? C'mon guys, stop with the jokes..
