Bbbbbbut the rivalry is dead!!!!
I think there are two reasons why this is happening.

And it’s not the opponent.

This is coming from someone who does want to play Princeton every year. But a home and home. Not this barnstorming stuff.

I was told by this board that Prudential was lying and holding back tickets and plenty would be available in the lower levels.
I mean, ticketmaster absolutely does that all the time. I checked yesterday and they had released more lower bowl tickets (which seems to be gone this morning).

Glad this one will be well attended though

Pleasantly surprised to see this, but I guess I shouldn't be. Atmosphere should be just a little bit better than Trenton last year.

I remember the discussion on this board when the game was first announced. "No one is going to go....bad timing, the Saturday before Christmas".

Well I’m one of those.

And some of that is the date and time. As I am busy, but it’s also the location as well.

Passed on Trenton and MSU too.

People are going to see Ace and Dylan not a non existent rivalry between Rutgers and Princeton lol
That's an oversimplification and there will be a lot more Princeton alums in attendance than you think. Either way, it's great to see fan enthusiasm for the basketball program. Way ahead of the football program, which basically has to beg fans to show up for home games.

Really?

What was the attendance for Mississippi State?

Was moreso referring to Rutgers fans who will be attending who might not otherwise go.

Princeton has a small but loyal following, they would be there to watch whether they’re playing Rutgers or any other school imo.

Have to imagine a lot of Pinceton grads live closer to Newark than Princeton

Thanks. Facts are stubborn things!

Exactly. They will have a nice turnout this afternoon.

Looks like last year was somewhat anomalous, though:

2023-24: 3027
2022-23: 2013
2021-22: 803 (Covid restrictions)
2020-21: n/a (Covid year - Ivy did not play)
2019-20: 2101
2018-19: 2150
2017-18: 2005
2016-17: 2191

So, removing the two covid-impacted years, their average home attendance has been ~2248 over 6 of the last 8 seasons. Not especially great, given that Jadwin seats 6854 - but they also play a pretty paltry OOC schedule at Jadwin most years. Through the first 4 games of this season they are averaging 1794 (vs. Iona, Loyola Chicago, Nazareth, and Monmouth).
