Well, I can assure that Knotts does not keep score for a scrimmage. Coaches want to know what they have and what they can do. Now, we all know fans think they may be in the super Bowl but scrimmages mean different things to coaches. I remember one year scrimmage against Independence it got reported we won by three touchdowns ... the reality was our second unit was better than their second unit. You can find out a lot in a scrimmage but unless it it under exact game conditions and both teams schemed talking about the proclaimed score does not correlate well.

He may not care about the score, but I know TK very well, well enough in fact to know that scrimmage or not, he'll still want to line up and kick your tails and show who had the better team!

As far as scrimmages go " seeing how their kids match up physically and handle live action is what a coach wants to see... no argument there.... I have a pretty good understanding first hand of what Knotts valued in a scrimmage and it has more to do with finding who is going to be physical as well as execute under pressure. He would laugh that many would show up to scrimmage him like it was the super bowl. He liked it best when they could just jump on bus and go scrimmage live against someone.

Back in his Charlotte days, he used to love hopping on the bus and going to Rock Hill or other South Carolina schools to scrimmage because S.C. rules allowed you to scrimmage for 2.5 hours instead of 2 in N.C.! He was always looking for a competitive advantage.
