Alright had some sleep time on the game and a little feel better now about last night. My thoughts.... First off obviously losing Carter hurt. Also wasn't talked about enough IMO was the emotional loss of Carter. The defense looked like deer in headlights after that incident. Wasn't until halftime that the defense started to get some footing and Fangio's adjustments. Next Dallas has a new HC/OC/DC with the entire off season to scheme for the Eagles. The Eagles had not seen how the Dallas would attack them. Give some credit to Dallas their offense is improved. They are taking the exact model from the Eagles. Building with high draft picks on the oline and getting very good WR's. The Dallas defense still is not very good. Eagles have the youngest defense in the league and lack of leadership showed when someone should have pulled Carter back to the defensive huddle when he started in with the Dallas olinemen. Fletcher Cox would have done that immediately. Eagles offense is still very very good. Dallas was selling out to stop Barkley and admitted it. I was surprised the Eagles didn't throw more especially with all the 1-1 with their WR. Lots to clean up over the next 10 days. Lots of it is correctable. Give some credit to Dallas they came ready to play. Biggest issue I see is Jackson at CB. I am willing to live with Bennett out there much more than I am Jackson. Jackson also tackles horribly in the run game. Howie will be working the phones for a CB. Dallas will probably hang with the Eagles record wise the first half of the season. Almost all their hard games are in the 2nd half of the season. They have a tough gaunlet to run in the back 8. Just some thoughts and I do feel better now about the game. It's hard to win in the NFL so I am happy with the W. Hopefully Dickerson can heal quickly. Need a FB now that ours looks to be lost for the season. Fangio will correct the defense. I can see this season playing out like last. The Eagles start slow and begin to build momentum the entire season as their young defense gets things figured out. BTW Jihad Campbell is going to be a stud. I also like what I saw out of Mukuba. Brian Baldinger has some good video breakdowns of them both already on social media. Eagles need to get things figured out, corrected as their next 5 games are very difficult including Washington who will be very tough. Otherwise I would expect with that difficult a schedule some L's coming their way. They are finding out being champions everyone brings their best in every game against them.
NEVER, EVER GIVE ANY CREDIT TO DALLAS!!! F*** DALLAS!!! GO BIRDS!!!!

This frustrated me. It was obvious they were playing run-first D, and the Birds kept dialing up runs on 1st down after the weather delay.

Probably Mailata's worst play in pass protect. Fortunately, Saquon bailed out the O on this play.

I didn't realize how far Baun had to navigate to get to Sanders. I still wish he would have tried to tackle him earlier, instead of trying to punch the ball out, but still a great play:

Hurts saved them but man that game plan was crap - no adjustments and no downfield throws outside of the early one to Dotson - 50:50 balls to AJ should have been thrown since the refs wee flag happy on PI.
Patullo seemed stuck to his game plan. I think there were a few reasons for this:
  • It was Patullo’s game #1 calling plays. This can’t be overstated. He did great considering that!
Dallas looked weak vs the run on paper
  • The run game worked well in the first half
  • The Eagles didn’t have much possession in the second half and the weather delay mucked up things
  • When they got the ball late, they were trying to burn clock vs score and put away Dallas. It’s how Siriani teams close things out.

I went to bed at halftime and in the morning was surprised to see the Eagles anemic run yards. The first half run game was decent for Philadelphia.

I know it's only one game but if I'm Philly I'm shopping for a CB. As a contender Adoree just isn't going to cut it. Just my opinion...and I know it's not that easy to go get a solid CB
Strongly agree. We do have a **** ton of picks next year to package if Howie wants to make a move.

This is why Vic will move him with opposing WR1s more as the season goes on.

it was noted that they practiced doing that a good bit in preseason. With so many new pieces on D last night, and Carter out, I'm not surprised that Quinyon didn't shadow CeeDee.

FWIW, while the shadowing was reported by several writers in preseason, I never saw anything indicating whether Jackson, or any of the other CBs, were comfortable moving all over, or preferred one side. It's not always an automatic that a CB can play on either side.

Fair point. Though I’d speculate that one advantage Jackson would have over Ringo or Bennett is having played multiple CB spots in the NFL.

If you negate that, then go with the most athletic and highest upside CB.

My fear is they are back in James Bradberry Town this year and that it will significantly limit how good the D is.

I will take Bennett over any of those options. Bradberry, Jackson, Ringo, etc. If Bennett doesn't work out then Howie needs to go to work and get us someone. Right now to me that is the only piece holding this defense back. Fangio's defenses get better and better through the year. Hopefully holds true again and want to see what this defense looks like towards the end of the year.
