This is the 4th season in a row the Eagles have to open the season on the road.

But PSU laughs at that. The B1G has scheduled us to open conference play on the road 8 seasons in a row and 17 out of the last 20 😂

TD, Pats.

They go for 2, and Jones runs it in, but there is a flag on the field. Holding, Pats

They still go for 2 from the 12, and don't convert (basically an INT by Cunningham, but he drops it)

25-20, Birds, with 3:30 left in the game

OMG, Hurts with a run on 1st down, and fumbles on the tackle, and the Pats recover. The ONLY thing he couldn't do. Why he didn't slide is beyond me

4th & 17 for the Pats, and Henry drops the ball. Birds take over with 2:20 left in the game

Too damn conservative on that series. A 1st down and it would be game over. 3 tentative runs only net 7-8 yards.

Birds go for it on 4th & 2, and don't convert. Pats may have gotten away with a hold, but still, a poor decision on the pass (and to go for it)

Birds did enough to lose, but they pulled out the W, which I'll take.
What a frustrating game. Most importantly, they won, but the new coaching staff didn’t show well in game 1. Let’s see how much they improve in a short week on Thursday.

That 4th and 2 call would have haunted them for the season if they lost. Either punt, or run Hurts out on the flat and let him either run for it or pass. But hey, wtf, they won, so what do I know.
Today had definite shades of 2018. Everything looked flat and out of sync. But they won.

Thursday could be interesting with Minnesota’s passing attack and them coming off of a loss. The Eagles offense needs to show up for that game.

How did the 2 refs call that a completion? Fortunately, it was overturned (a 4th down play by the Pats)

Birds will win, 25-20
Yep, I get that that’s what replay is for, to get the call right, but it’s baffling how both refs said it was a catch. It wasn’t a particularly close call. It’s like the first one said it’s good and the second guy didn’t want to contradict him.

Point 6 stands out. The lack of pressure on Jones until late in the game can’t happen when the Pats OL was down 3 starters. It’s one game and there’s young talent coming in, but it bears watching. This defense will be atrocious without a consistent pass rush. Point blank.

I read that Jalen Carter had 6 QB pressures and a sack in his first game (an unlucky roughing penalty too). That’s a real bright spot. The UGA DTs have a special look about them. They could be perennial Pro Bowlers.
