I really like what the Hilltoppers are doing and the excitement they have started, but this schedule is brutal. They get tested early with a strong C-Ville squad, and the Seminole District is as tough as your going to find week to week. I want to say 5 wins....but that might be a reach with this schedule.

Tough indeed. I believe that if their offense can click like a Jeff Woody offense is supposed to, They'll be fine. They also have to limit turnovers and Win the battle of field position through special teams. Those were some of their biggest problems last year. im sure they'll have a great offseason. I'm excited to see what they will do this season! Go Toppers!

Looking at the Seminole teams my early predictions would shake out into three tiers....
Tier 1.)Heritage- good size up front, two great options at QB with Anderson returning, and a lethal rb in Davis
Amherst- Returning Turner, and they always seem to reload with size and speed. I believe they have like 18 or 19 seniors returning
Tier 2.) JF- they were young and scrappy last year and stayed in every game, I expect this season some of the close losses will turn into wins
Brookville- Lost several key players, but they have Bennard and can put up points quickly
Glass-Athletic and fast, not the best upfront but they make up for it with a knack to be around the ball
Tier 3.) LCA-first year all public school schedule and some growing pains will be ahead.
Rustburg- lost 19 seniors from a magical season last year. Replacing a lot of skill players will be a daunting task for a small 3A school. Two good rbs, and one good senior lineman with youth all around.
Liberty-Bedford- Another smaller 3A school with limited numbers. Pretty good slot/rb returning for his sophomore year. All in all, a tough road ahead.

This is spot on . I couldn't agree with you more. I am very interested to see how LCA fares against a full Seminole schedule this year. In terms of size and athleticism, I think they will match up well against the other "higher tier" teams.

The Seminole District will have some great matchups this year. Anything can happen every week, so it will be anexciting season.

The Bulldogs are by far the hardest team to gauge at this point. They have talent, tremendous facilities, and a great coach. I am probably putting them a little low because they are adjusting to the new schedule. I'm sure they wont miss the super long bus rides home, but some of the crowds they will face can be a little hostile.
Can't wait for this season to start and see what shakes out

I like this breakdown and it seems pretty close. I would move LCA up a section. Those middle four teams will be in a back and forth fight to the finish. Top two and bottom two tiers are spot on. Heritage has two solid qbs, Rustburg has none. There is the difference between a top tier team and bottom tier team.

Halifax, I think they'll do to Franklin County what they did to GW last year, Brookville, Liberty, Rustburg, and LCA! JF and Amherst will be close games as well for Glass. They bring back some good talent and LB/RB Patterson is one of the better players in Region D.
I knew their talent pool was on the upswing, but is it enough? I don't know what Franklin lost, but if graduation was kind to them, they should be a force until playoff time. I think they easily beat Rustburg, Liberty, and LCA, and should beat the Bees. But they go to Brookville, and I think they have developed another stellar QB there?

And like you "pride", I'm getting all worked up. Let's just cancel summer and let the boys get started!

I see 4 games that they have the highest chance of winning. Halifax, Franklin County(they are improving), Liberty, and Rustburg.

I think they can also beat LCA, and Brookville. Since Glass joined the Seminole in 2009, they have never beaten Brookville. It would be nice to see Glass get their first win against them since joining the district. Bernard is another great Brookville QB that will need his inexperienced recievers to step up quickly. I think they will. So its 6 wins for me.

If Glass wants to beat JF, Amherst and Heritage this season, they have to be ready to be physical. They battled with JF last year and had some big plays and forced turnovers. Amherst manhandled them. The offense could not move the ball against Heritage.

They learned a lot last year and I hope they surprise many like they did last year. This time at a greater magnitude.

If LCA can't handle the crowds in the district games, than God forbid hen they get to Martinsburg, WV whose fans are loud and get under visiting teams skin as they get off the bus.
Martinsburg will have the best team Dave Walker has ever had at Martinsburg
I don't see 1 team that can stay within 35 of this years Martinsburg Bulldogs

Easy to gauge. They are running out of recruits and reclassed players. They will not be able to compete without their unfair advantages. They will be playing in 2a before you know it.

Unfortunately for LCA they won't be able to drop to 2A any time soon, they have over 800 students. They about the same size as Brookville but VHSL placed a multiplier on their population so they're forced to play 4A as a sort of equalizer.

They have 776 students today and dropping. (Brookville has over 1000)

I'm probably one of the only people that think LCA will be pretty good this year. I'll compare them to last years JF team. It's not that they're young, but it's the full Seminole schedule. I'm certain they'll win more games this year than JF did last year. I just think that they will play well against everyone in the Seminole, but they'll lose a lot of close ones. But in the future, as the school gets smaller(if) and there are less numbers that play football, there is a strong chance that they will struggle in the Seminole.

They seemed to hold their own a couple of months ago in 7 on 7's at City Stadium. They have some fast receivers with good hands in the slot positions and a quarterback that can get the ball to them. But playing with pads on could be a different story. In my years of following LCA in the past, they've always seemed to be strong on the offensive line. Their secondary and linebackers looked pretty good too.
