At least on the terms he went to USM.<div>
</div><div>He was told if he came to USM he would be king of the world. Now, that's no different than what any other school told him, probably, but at USM, he probably had the most talent of anyone on the team the day he stepped on campus, and he believed he truly was king of the world. No one was on campus that could push him to actually improve.</div><div>
</div><div>Now, from a Freshmen to a Senior he didn't improve one bit. Had he gone to State, LSU, Ole Miss, or somewhere else that could bring him back down to size and then build him back up again, this could have been a different story.</div>

I think the injury set him back more than not being pushed further. His freshman year he looked like he was going to put some ridiculous numbers. Also, since he decided to leave early without much to show for his years at USM didn't help much either.

i'd hate for us to have to list the BMOC's that made it in the NFL after going to non-BCS schools. some of them were lightly recruited, but many of them were very good players coming out of HS that were the best player on the team from the day they stepped on campus.

I believe his grades also kept him out of the SEC.

LSU was all over him until he signed. He had the grades. The fact that he didn't work out being made out as some indictment of USM or non AQs is over the top. The guy was phenomenal until his leg blew apart on national TV.

Miles backed off after that. He had a terrible attitude and was high 99% of the time, not that there's anything wrong with that. He had unbelievable talent, but also an unbelievably bad work ethic, and has since high school. The leg break didn't help, but don't act like that's the only thing that hurt him. I believe he also left after this year because he was going to need some Powe-esque help on staying in school

Morrow doesn't have as much natural talent, but hopefully if he actually puts some effort into football, he can put up better numbers.

But before the break, he had the speed to back up the mouth. The attitude was too bad to overcome the adversity.

At the time, the SEC only allowed 1 partial qualifier per year. CUSA didn't have any limits.

My point was that his attitude was never put in check by Fedora, anyone else on the coaching staff, any other player, or anyone in Hattiesburg, for that matter. When you go to a college with much more talent than you and have coaches that treat you like scum until you prove to be more than a few stars by your name, then the attitude will adjust itself appropriately. Brown never had that any of that to straighten him out was the only point I was making<div>
</div><div>His leg injury didn't help, but it was a clean break and he could have easily returned to full speed had he had the right attitude. The fact was, he was all about Deandre Brown from the moment he stepped on that campus, and I just think higher profile teams get that out of kids easier.</div>

No, they don't. They may not all come in knowing exactly how hard to push themselves, but to call their attitudes coming in "horrid" is exacerbating slightly. I'd venture to say most come in with pretty good attitudes.<div>
</div><div>And no, they won't necessarily adopt that mentality. I do agree that DeAndre's attitude was the main thing holding him back, as do most I'm sure.
