Is Wednesday. Shoot I thought it was another week or two away. I guess we will see a little glimpse into this teams future in a couple days. I'm am usually optimistic about improvement but for some reason I am expecting the rug to be pulled out from under us. Not that it was much of a rug. Probly more like a dish towel

We’re going to add like 20 portal players in the coming weeks too. A lot of new faces headed our way.

What is the importance of "early signing day" anymore ?
Typically where half of your new players come from. Is it important ? Maybe not to you but I'm sure it is to Lebby cause if he doesn't make some big improvements next year a lot of folks will be calling for his job

How binding is a commitment that a young man makes on that day ?

Important to get good players whenever you can but if he's depending on high school recruits to make a major difference next season he's really going to have folks calling for his job.

Same as it's always been. Of course he can get in the portal these days but it's signing day just like signing day it was 20 years ago. It's terrible that you can't rely on keeping any of these kids anymore thanks to the portal

How many freshmen did we play this year ? Quite a few started for us. Might wanna look into that statement

We need OL and DL. If you think a couple of lines full of freshmen is going to turn us around, you fell on your head as a child, and maybe recently too.

No. But we need to get them in now for 2026 & 2027. Signing day isn’t a quick fix. It’s a program building day. Can’t rely on a new batch of transfers every year.

I agree but if you look at the post string he said lebby needs guys to start big improvements next year. Lebby's simply not making big improvements on the lines next year with freshmen. Portal guys, yes.

Freshmen seem less and less likely to stay until they can be big improvements but you have to try which is why I said get good guys when you can. That's for depth and the future.

How many freshmen played on the OL line this year. Did you watch any games ?? It's Mississippi State ya know. Check that team out and see how many freshmen played on the DL OL special teams etc

Just to share a little more knowledge for some of y'all out there that seem to not think signing day matters that's when all of these juco guys will be signing. Of which we have a boatload committed which is open to discussion on smart move or not. But 3 big DL are spose to be signing.

Outside of Craver and MVB our freshmen might have played some but really were not that impactful. The team I watched,
WR was mostly dominated by upperclass transfers.
OL was a turnstile.
RB was mainly a transfer and juco.
DL rarely had any pressure.
LB's outside of a transfer didn't do a lot.
DB's looked bad all season.

Craver had some nice catches but was hurt. MVB had a couple of good games, then struggled. Would not have done that had Shapen not been hurt.

The point is freshmen CAN play but they aren't going to be the tipping point NEXT season.

Pick up some good ones and hope they stay 2-3 years to be impacts.

Point is, better hit on the right transfers this off-season for immediate help. Or hope some of those higher rated guys from last year stick around and are blazing in year 2.
