East Columbus forfeits tonight’s game to East Bladen

East Columbus has forfeited tonight’s varsity football game to East Bladen. The Gators cited a lack of available football players.

The East Bladen Eagles will take on South Robeson next week.

Is there any possible way to combine East and West, maybe shift a few students to Whiteville, and have three 2A teams in Columbus County?

I know two middles in Columbus county did and probably still do merge to create a football team(only for football). Nakina and Williams TS. They feed to SC so it does Actually work to merge for some sports. WC and EC combined in football could be very competitive. Just Food for thought.

Hard to do when you have minimal number and years of losing records. Very hard to do. It’ll take a special coach with a lot of community and school support.

If you are a coach better stay as far away from there as you can. Politics my man politics. Plus no support at all. Good coaches and administration has been gone from there. At WC and EC its not. All just numbers that are down. Look somewhere else for job IMO.

I am 100% certain that the NCHSAA does not allow two high schools to merge for athletic purposes. Consolidation of two schools is the only way to do that.
