East Columbus has had their fair share of good football teams over the past 25 years, almost beat SWO to get to eastern finals a few years ago. But this may be as low as they have ever been. Kudos to those kids that are out there working their butts off at practice and trying to reverse their fortune. Hopefully the Stallions will come out playing inspired football and gaining confidence to bring home that conference title. Go Stallions!!

Glad to be back again after a week off, I think if the stallions could build a reasonable lead this kind of game might be a game to work on some passing. It's definitely not our strength but a few waggle passes here and there are almost essential in the wing T. The few times we have run it it's been there but our guys just haven't been able to hold on, nothing a little practice can't help though! Let's go stallions!!
One year they were close to state championship if not in the final game. That only lasted one year though. Someone will have to give the year but I remember it.
They had twins that year and were pretty good, one of them got in a wreck a couple weeks before they played South Columbus and couldn't play. Don't remember the year but I am guessing 4-5 years ago. If they had any kind of a punter they would have beaten SWO who was without Phil Padgett who was sick. I listened to the game on SWO radio station on the internet.
It was 2010-2011, the year we had a down year which was my junior year. We beat them 43-6 but if I remember correctly their road to the 4th round was rather easy...seems like they had to play west Columbus in the 2nd round I can't remember exactly. Not trying to say it was a fluke but I don't think that was the definition of a "Good football team"
The last winning season E.Columbus (in like forever) was back in 2012 (9-5) they were beat in the 3rd rd by Albermarle
Maybe they weren't "good", might be an overstatement. But they did play SWO to the wire at SWO and truly had them beat and they had to punt about 3 times and the ball hardly crossed the line of scrimmage every time. But SWO either won the state or were runnerups, maybe it was just a bad year for 1A. I remember being concerned about the South game that year but when one of the twins got hurt it was a gimme pretty much.
East became a school in 1992, so I guess you mean 1999. That's goin a little far back for me, lol

Hotter it was 1990 I believe. They were ranked #4 or maybe 5 then. We won in a close game. I'll ask Wayne this week. I'm sure he will remember. Wayne was OL coach at Whiteville left for HC job at WC.
In 90. He had some good athletes then for some years but only Conf. champs and runner up went to playoffs. I believe WTXY color was on that staff first year then left also. I'm getting old can't remember some things exactly . I moved my two sons to Whiteville in 92 to play for Brian Aldridge .

If the field wasn't in the shape of a cow pasture 53-0 could have easily been the score at half. Wet soggy night but a good win and onto next week.
East led in that game deep in the 4th. Lost on a long field goal as I recall.
The big mistake near the end of that game was EC coach didn't think to go for 2 so they would be up 3 in case Albermarle kicked a field goal. He said afterward he got caught up in the moment.....rookie!
