EL is usually athletic and have some good speed …. This should be a good test for the Hibriten D and this is a good match up

Hibriten is usually good. I don’t know who is down or who is up with these two teams. But guessing with Hibriten tradition I probably will go with Hibriten by 7.
We graduated alot on both sides of the ball and with a quick turnaround from the spring were probably underdogs in this game.
I'll take Hibriten at home by 7. Tough place to play up there. One of my favorites places to go though.

EL only lost 2 close games last year. I figure they'll be a problem. But I'd rather see us play a team that can beat us instead of running clocks every game.
with this group, give me north wilkes all 4 times in the non conference — build some confidence going into conf play !
kidding. though, honestly, i’m not sure this team benefits all that much playing east lincoln and shelby.
since 2003 we’re 1-4 in the west regional finals + a few 3rd round exits too. those are the years i really wish would’ve had an east lincoln or shelby type on the schedule. obviously nothing is guaranteed, but i really think we’re playing in 1-3 more state championship games if those teams are more seasoned/battle-tested before playoff action
Panthers have home field advantage but sounds like the experience factor favors Mustangs!!! Thinking EL by 10 to kick off 2021 season!!! Just glad there is actually some conversation and thinking about what could happen on Friday night instead of knowing we would win by 30+ every game the last 4-5 years

Yep. That kills any team but especially an option team.
EL reminds me a lot of the Burns team from last year… Very good ball club with very good players in critical positions… That being said we have given them the ball 2-3 times deep in our territory….

Opener in 2019 which we also turned over the ball way too many times… I literally lost count but I believe we had 5-6 turnovers tonight and a blocked punt that gave EL the ball starting in Panthers territory
Hats off to the Hibriten kids they fought to the end and I think that offense will get on track in a few weeks. Tough to replace all of those seniors, turn the ball over that much and win a game. Good luck the rest of the way.

Everything!!! Some were stripped, couple jarring hits and a couple from inexperience and miscommunication on pitches!!!! You name it we probably had one caused by it… Lol
Idk why we are surprised- EL should make some noise this year and they always had some good talent and speed.
the loss itself is by no means surprising. it’s more the manner in which it happened. we’re not used to being taken out to the woodshed like that.

i was expecting a double digit loss, for sure — not a 30+ point beat down though.
but maybe the results we heard coming out of the crest scrimmage should’ve given us a heads up something like this was coming
I had thought a 10-14 point difference after reading what EL had returning from last spring’s squad.. And honestly it was headed in that direction at 13-7 late in the 1st half before Panthers let QB pick up a first down when it was 4 & 14 which led to a score then turned it right back over which led to another score before half… Went from 13-7 maybe headed to half to being down 26-7!!!
I do think if we can limit the turnovers, get better consistency from both lines, and just get some of these guys more reps under their belt it could still be a very good season… I think the score FRIday night got a little bit out of hand after what I mentioned in previous paragraph about how 1st half ended

Coach Wilbanks wouldn't do that, he would start to play subs, get kids in to play, I still expect hard fought game, that 1st game with young kids. HHS coaches will get it turn around.
No disrespect was meant towards EL. It was more of respect for how good Hibriten has been recently.
There are probably 5 teams in NC that has a chance to win State year in year out. Shelby and Reidsville are at top of that list. You could throw in CC somewhere in there, maybe couple Mt. 1a teams. Not sure there’s anyone from East in there, they take turns beating each ofher up then lose to the west. WRH is always right there if I had to pick 1. After those 5-6 teams there is a big gap. No disrespect to ACR, Crest or my Panthers but that’s just how it is. Never wanna lose, but I’m ok with EL laying it to us. They’re good, alot returning and they’re athletic. Will make some noise. If our young guys keep working hard, we’ll get better, I promise! We’ll never be a dynasty but we will occasionally make a good run and maybe even get another ship. Who knows!!!
