No need for that, I do think you know this is far more lenient. I do not mind the banter, really enjoy it, just think name calling leads to other things.

Really sad I didn’t make the trip up 52 last night, probably could have met a lot of posters.

Good luck to all 1 a 1aa teams going into the playoffs...MA and East Surry are two teams that will be super tough outs in the West..along with Murphy...N.Stanly....N.Rowan....T.Jefferson....Robbinsville....(Alleghany playing good ball).

:) print , you know it, should have hollared last night. You seen the game , you know there are never excuses between two long time rivals, anything can happen and usually does between the two. East is as good as I’ve said they were from day one. Ain’t nobody gonna wanna see them in the playoffs, tuff out and contender for the regional. Smith is one of the best backs in 1a football. But in all honesty the the three things that stand out to me most are these . Number 1 was over matched size wise all night and the cards exposed thAt, second , the bears come out of the locker room after the half , barely stretched and warmed up which led to all the issues with cramping. The Greene brothers and smith didn’t see the field at the same time for all the 3rd and half of the 4th. That’s a fact not an excuse and it hurt the bears. Gosnell did a good job on Greene , when Greene was playing but in return showed how balanced the bears were , you can cover and double team Greene but that opens up the Bears other weapons and they have a plenty. Greene was just as big a part of the game winning drive as anybody, those couple flare passes to him along the side opened up that run game. 4th and I know I said 3, how bout the grit of the granite squad, they refused to lose that football game, their wasn’t a doubt in there minds, a lot of pressure on that sophomore qb. They found a way to win. You can’t coach or teach heart and the bears have one the size of a pumpkin. They should have closed the deal in the third but didn’t, this game could have been a blow out but wasn’t , but in retrospect I’m glad it wouldn’t , this is the kind of football game and atmosphere that make good football teams great. That’s my honest take. One last note — THE REFS SUCKED — both ways.

Took the opportunity to watch this rivalry game that did not disappoint. It was well worth it. There were more than a few questionable calls by the officials last night but the teams played through it and it was exciting for the entire 48 minutes. MA has some skilled athletes for sure. #6 was as good as advertised and #21 and #5 were explosive, as well. MA’s QB was very efficient and made good decisions with the ball. Upfront it appeared to me that MA may have had a slight advantage over ES. It appeared that ES doesn’t know exactly what they want to be offensively. They swapped QB’s (#12 & #7) back and forth most of the game. #12 was very athletic and made some plays with his legs but made two critical mistakes in the passing game that cost ES. ES started the game out trying to establish the run without a lot of success. It appeared that MA was sitting on #12 most of the night and it wasn’t until ES made the change at QB and inserted #7, after the second interception, and started attacking MA vertically in the passing game that things changed and it looked like it exposed the weakness of MA’s defense. There were some serious issues in MA’s secondary, from a coverage standpoint. Has ES used a dual QB system all season? I’m not downing #12 at all because he is a heck of a player/athlete that competed every play but as an outsider looking in he could be one heck of a running back/receiver/decoy/wildcat back/etc... and with the other weapons ES has #11, #4, #3, #1, etc... You would have to pick your poison. From a defensive perspective, I’ve always thought it was easier to defend another team’s best athlete if he played the QB position rather than being used in multiple position with multiple ways of getting them the ball. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to catch this rivalry game again in the near future.

Mt.Airy's speed in the defensive back field was incredible. Super tough to break big gains on them without getting walked down.

Gonna be a fun playoff year, hopefully Murphy and Mitchell go 1aa, if this happens it could be the most balanced 1aa playoffs in years
Would be the deepest the 1AA west has been in quite a while. I genuinely hope it happens but will be surprised if it does.

Yes I am an East Surry fan so yes I am biased but I have a few facts that are unbiased that could have changed the outcome of the game. 1. G. Greene’s first touchdown was caught off a short hop and should have clearly been ruled incomplete. 2. Edwards Fumble was a ball that appeared to be thrown out of frustration of being stopped on 4th down he was clearly on the ground and the play should have been over. 3. Both of G. Greene’s TD’s came while Bruton for the cards was on the sidelines for whatever reason but was held in check well by Bruton the rest of the game. 4. ES coaching staff appeared completely unprepared for the wildcat at the end of the game and went to the grave with 2 TO on defense that could’ve been used to make an adjustment to stop that final run. Yes the officiating was HORRIFIC both ways but it appeared that the bad calls came at worse times for the cards and ultimately cost them more points not saying they would’ve won just saying they got struck with a case of terrible luck last night, really hope these two meet up again I would expect another classic.
