This was a slugfest! I got the game I was looking for. That being these two teams healthy. And in the end, EV came out on top. Both of these teams are very good but EV did a better job of having answers for the Charger weapons than the Chargers did for the EV weapons. Plain and simple.

Lets see if I can provide a few details. Chancellor lost the turnover game with 1 lost fumble and 1 pick in the first half. EV lost the penalty game with multiple personal fouls and holding calls. EV took advantage of a short punt and then a good drive in the first to go up 14-0. Chancellor played catchup from there. The Chargers led at the half, 17-14, and it was looking promising. But EV came out in the second and played a very focused power running game that took advantage of their size and quickness. Still, Chancellor had a chance with 3 minutes left on the clock but their drive fell two yards short on fourth down and 6. Give EV credit. They are a very good football team. Good luck next week.

Great high school football game! It seemed Hatfield made the 2nd half adjustments that made the difference. Bring in Holmes at RB who is a little shiftier than Pollard and going to a two tight end look was something u don't see from a traditional spread team. These were great moves! Also credit should be given to the EV QB. He made plays when they had to be made. A great throw moving in the pocket on a late game 3rd down was one of the plays of the game. One take away is the EV Offensive line had an off game, they weren't terrible, just got to eliminate the flags.

Here was another factor in the game that is small but makes a huge impact. Hatfield won the toss and deferred until the 2nd half. You gave a very hot offense the balk first and EV stopped them and turned around and scored quickly. Then down 17-14 at half they get the ball and drive the field and score. That's a difference maker.

One more thing about this game. EVs corner #21 who covered their #1 one on one most of the game did an excellent job. He did get one long TD but even that was tight coverage but #1's height proved too much on that play.

Overall two great teams but adjustments and the little things one this game.

Holmes is a very good running back. He is a hard nose runner who hits the hole with speed and power. Unless that's what you meant by shifty :) I'm not sure that was an off night by the O line.. Chancellor has a very good D line, ask all the other O lines they ripped through over the last 6 games or so. I'm not sure 55 or 79 made too many plays last night. Those two are D1 bound. I agree, EV QB made two very good plays last night.. the scramble and throw and the scramble, duck, duck and run play which saved a drive. He also didn't turn the ball over. They don't get talked about too much, but the EV defense is the reason they are winning. They are high energy and hit with a purpose. They don't make solo tackles, they make team tackles. I have said this over the last few years, the program continues to grow and get better.. Winning begets winning!

Agree.....defense is the difference maker this year. Not really complaining but gonna say it anyway....the one guy on Chargers O-line was holding often but was never called. And I've seen that #1 receiver for them a few times and just don't see him as a legit D-1 receiver. Very tall, yes, but doesn't seem to have the speed necessary for a D-1 receiver. Like someone said earlier, had the 1 catch last night for a TD but the DB was all over it and almost had a pick. I don't think they ever double teamed that guy. Congrats to Hatfield and the whole team. Beating the Chargers 3 times in a row says enough, no matter what the circumstances were.

I did say your O-line wasn't terrible. What I've seen and saw on your film that your O-line is very good I just thought they had a lot of flags and at this level you have to eliminate those. I do agree, your defense is stingy and your secondary had a great game.

The db for ev who covered #1 is probably the most underrated player in the region and only a jr. His fundamentals are almost perfect and is just a ball hawk. If you have a player that can cover a receiver like that without using a double team helps a defense out a lot!

#21 Cameron Spangler has covered EJ Jenkins both games and has pretty much handled the job. The one pass Jenkins did catch could have been intercepted. Kid is a very underrated player because of his size. Good job to him

It was a little alarming watching him line up against that kid....what a difference in size. Shows you how much confidence the coaches have in Spangler to leave him one-on-one the whole game with Jenkins.

Now on to Lafayette. Hey ChancellorFan didn't Chancellor scrimmage Lafayette this year? Any insight?

One last thought on the game...Leake had 2 huge catches even with some sort of splint or something on his hand. I believe both were third down catches that kept drives going. That kid is going to be something.

Chancellor has scrimmaged Lafayette for quite a few years now. I haven't seen them play a game since Chancellor played them in playoff games in the 2003/04 timeframe. I would expect very disciplined execution of a wing t style offense with more passing than what you see out of Courtland. My impression of them is generally well disciplined, quickness, and well coached.

I've called on you often this year for information so I appreciate everything you have replied to.
