If a change is made, he needs to get a long look. His stint at Miss. wasn't great, but I think he learned from that. His time as USC's head guy was very productive, and his players loved playing for him. He would bring an aggressive defense, that is for sure.

Additionally, his Cajun style would be an interesting mesh in Jersey. I hope they give him a good look if something happens.

I agree the guy pulls talent wherever he is. His drawl will be a novelty and will increase his appeal in the area..

This post can't be serious.

Very. That guy is the main person responsible for SC killing it in recruiting, and has done so every where he has been.

His players loved playing for him, and in his last role, he excelled. SC has a certain look they like for a coach, and they made a mistake not hiring him. If people are going to throw around names like Bo Pellini who tells fans and administrators to go **** themselves, Orgeron deserves a serious look. Guy is a stud coach who won't take a backseat to anyone.

And his defenses come to play.

Our players love playing for Coach Flood, and he already has the job. Coach Flood has not told the fans or administrators to do bad things to themselves. Can't make the last statement about defenses, but as Meat Loaf sang, two out of three ain't bad.

Happy Halloween.

As much as I am a huge fan of the guy and once thought we should consider him, he is not the guy for RU.

He is southern true and true. His ties are in the South and Cali.

He has ties everywhere. His recruiting is national, including NJ.

Not only that, he went through a lot of personal issues decades ago that almost cost his career, which would be dredged up and repeated ad nauseum here.

Even saddled with those issues he was able to put together ridiculous recruiting classes in two of the most competitive environments, PAC 10 and the SEC.

We have no idea what sort of cheating he allowed to go on in order to "kill it" in recruiting.

Then again, maybe we do... have an idea.

In any case, no way he has the same recruiting resources and tolerance for shady dealings here. That is reserved for NJ politicians of both stripes.

If I recall correctly, the players loved playing for Terry Shea too.

They also love playing for Urban Meyer. That alone isn't indicative of winning or losing, but when they are winning, like Orgeron did at SC, it is a good thing.

Bringing up Terry Shea in these discussions is elementary thought process.

And Chip Kelly had never had a FB job south or west of Baltimore before going to Oregon. So what

Maybe we just need to cut them in on the deal.

Orgeron built a good talent base up at Mississippi which Houston Nutt was able to turn into a couple of 9 win seasons with Cotton Bowl wins before the wheels fell off for him in short order. He also did a nice job as the interim coach at USC 2 years ago.

I would worry about the cultural fit though.

USC should have kept Orgeron over Sarkisian. He might fit in well at Miami, but the Butch Davis tidal wave seems to be in full effect. Orgeron is a throw back.

He's as intense as they come. My favorite Coach O story is from his first day on the job at Ol Miss he met with his staff, meeting ended with his with no shirt on challenging anyone who wanted a piece of him. This program needs those kind of balls.

He recruited with the best of them while Miss was a middle of the pac SEC team.
