is one of the most clutch hitters I have ever seen. He got the game winning hit for the Marlins in 1997. I saw him get many clutch hits for the Cardinals. And now this.

and them having **** for brains.

EVERYONE knows Renteria is red 17ing hot, you fall behind 2-0 to him, first base open, WALK THE SOB.

Texas Rangers, the Mstate of MLB. Mitch Moreland, you went from hell to hell, congratulations. At least you can say you hit better in the world series than the AL MVP.

If a guy like Cliff Lee feels like he can get a guy out, I'm going to let him go after the hitter, especially if he has a shutout up to that point.

The location of the pitch was what was bad, not necessarily the decision.

but I can also see that Renteria has been tearing the skin off of the ball against ALL of the Texas pitchers. 3 run shot off of Wilson, many ther clutch hits. Take your chances with someone else.

I'd say SF came out pretty well letting Molina go in favor of Posey, that kid is gonna be one of the best catchers in decades.

or just let him walk away and get nothing in return for him.

Also, one other point on pitching to Renteria- they probably didn't want to have the top of the Giants order if they could help it. Obviously, it didn't work out for them. And no doubt, they should have been a lot more careful with Renteria. I also think that Lee getting tired may have affected his location a little bit. At least he looks like he's getting tired to me.

In that situation. His run meant nothing in a pitching duel like tonight. You put him on first to create the force at all bases and pitch to Rowand (who??, exactly), and maybe Cruz's HR sends u back to SF. Instead it is now Gehrig, DiMaggio, Berra and Renteria with two WS clinching hits (something tells me Renteria had the fewest opportunities of that group, so more power to him)

He scored and that gave them a comfortable 3-0 lead. Any run is big in a pitcher's duel like that. I wouldn't be so worried about a force out with two outs already. With one out, yes because then you can set up a double play. But with two outs, you're one pitch away from getting out of the inning. Sometimes you walk a guy and it can lead to a big inning.

I do think that Lee was trying to pitch around him and trying to get him to chase a pitch, but he missed his location and Renteria nailed it. Lee just said on ESPN "I should have been more fine with that pitch." which kind of backs up what I thought.

But if you have a Cy Young Award guy that has won in the playoffs before, and it's MLB, you have to trust him. They didn't trade a bunch of prospects for him to pitch around good hitters. And he also had a shutout going up until that point as well.

it ended up that way. Renteria on first with Rowand at the plate was what the Rangers should have made sure happened and they didn't. Lee is a nice pitcher but he is not the god the media makes him to be. He was pretty average most of the year and was less than average in Game 1 of the WS. You don't suspend solid baseball strategy to coddle a star pitcher. if he couldn't get it fine enough then he should have just intentionally walked him.

How is asking a pitcher to get batters out and locate his pitches coddling? That's called asking a pitcher to do his job. This is professional baseball. He simply didn't do his job.

Lee is a good pitcher. He made the All-Star team this year (not picked by the media mind you), and he went 12-9 with an ERA of 3.18 and for the year, he had only 18 walks all year with 185 K's and he lead the league with 7 complete games. As I mentioned, he also won the Cy Young a couple of years ago and had 22 wins.

But let's be honest, he has made his living and reputation on the playoffs. And in the playoffs, before Renteria's home run, he had given up only one home run in his postseason career. And coming into tonight, his record for the postseason was 7-1 (now 7-2) with an ERA of 1.96 and 74 K's in 69 innings.

I give the Giants all the credit in the world for beating him twice. The only time anyone has ever hit him in the postseason was game one of the World Series. Other than that, he was 2-0 in the division series with an ERA of 1.13 against the Rays, and he shutout the Yankees with 13 K's in his only appearance in this years postseason.

And considering that Renteria had only hit 3 home runs in the regular season all year, the fact that Lee had gotten Renteria out twice up until that point including a strike out, I don't think trying to get him out was a bad move at all. But Lee should have executed better.
