Lets address the Elephant in the room. No one else wants to talk about it so I'll be the one to say something about it. How is it that East Forsyth can get all these transfers in and when other kids want to go somewhere else their request gets denied. I mean let's be honest all the kids going to East are not getting Power 5 offers and if they do they get them before they go to East. Willard has talent every year and still cant win it all. You take him from East and put him at a Carver or Atkins and he's maybe 1 and done and looking for another job. I just don't think its fair for East to build these power teams and take kids from elsewhere. You can only play 11 at a time. You have 32 and all of them won't be playing. Someone please chime in on this.

OK a lot to unpack here so as a one time WSFCS coach and employee here is how I will try and answer your questions.
1. Some transfers may be denied for several reasons. 1. The school may be capped, or full. I think that would be perhaps West Forsyth or Reagan where this could occur. 2. The parent did not get the paperwork in time or the paperwork might be incomplete or there may be mistakes. These are the two main reasons for a no on transfers. I know Willert and I are friends but if I look at it from 10,000 feet I can say this about East Forsyth. They have won a ton of games in the past 10-12 years. East Forsyth has won a ton of playoff games. They have helped put a lot of kids in college. East Forsyth has won 2 state titles under Willert. And it looks like kids want to be a part of that program. Now I was at Mt. Tabor when WS Carver would rape East Forsyth. Take all their kids back in 2002-2007. So at one time JJ4L Carver was the culprit in Forsyth County . That power shift has gone to KVegas. So As a one time Parkland Head football coach I can tell you what losing players to schools in the county is like, it sucks. But that is the price of admission in Forsyth county. It has been going on for decades and will continue for the foreseeable future. Is it right or wrong who knows but it is what it is

EF won the 4A title in back to back years in 2018 and 2019. Not sure where you are getting the "still cant win it all" part....

Coach, I would say most all schools have transfers, even though some will come on here and vehemently deny it.

Thoughts?
100% true. There is some sort of recruiting/ transfers going on everywhere in the state. Every county , every city every district. There are two types of coaches. 1. Those who recruit and or get transfers. 2. Those who complain about recruiting or transfers but would be more than happy to get kids. Again it is what it is. In fact in my conference one coach sent out a letter to all the other head coaches posting all the transfers that one particular school had/got. It was hysterical a waste of time. Did not change anything in fact that school just picked up a stud "transfer". So again it is what it is

All schools get transfers most are of the legal variety. However, some schools seek out transfers in non open enrollment districts and some do it to the point where there's practically no one from their feeder schools starting! I personally do not know where a line should be drawn or if it should be drawn.

Where to start on this one? I have followed EF football before Todd Willert in the 90's and I think I'll chime in on this one.

Here we go, to start, you can say a lot of things about Coach Willert but, 1 thing you can't say is "he doesn't get kids to the next level" "or all those kids have offers before they go to EF". Willert gets kids to College, and if you say otherwise you're just talking BS. I've seen him get kids to D1 schools and they didn't even start at East Forsyth. I personally saw and talked to one parent who sent a son to EF with zero offers. He said Willert put the kid in his own car and drove them to multiple schools over 8 hours away on his own money. He didn't ask for a dime from to family and the kid came back to Kernersville with a D1 offer. Willert has kids every year on the NC Shrine Bowl team. Hell 1 year he even had his team manager make the Shrine Bowl team. Willert has kids every year there and in the East-West All Star game. He's coached and won in both of those events on top of his job at East.

Next, Willert and East Forsyth HAVE won multiple State Championships. How can you say he can't win the big one when his team almost pulled off a damn 3-Peat? 2018-2019 Back to Back 4A Champs. In 2020 EF should have won it again, and they were the favorite going into that year IMO after beating Grimsley in 2019 2x at Jamieson Stadium. Covid happened and Willert lost his starting QB who had just won 2 Championship MVPs and 5 other D1 players to early graduation. Also, In 2015 East Forsyth went to 2-OTs against Mallard Creek in the 4-AA West Finals. In 2021 and 2022 They were right there again but lost close games to Hough. Willert has been at East since 2003-2004 and is the winningest coach in school history!!! I guess what I'm getting at is what the heck are you talking about? Every year East Forsyth is the team to beat in Forsyth County. When they have a down year they are still fighting for a CPC Championship and they are a 3rd round team.

I guess what I'm trying to say is no other Coach in Forsyth County over the last 20 plus years has showed loyalty like Todd Willert has. Kids will continue to go to East and rightfully so. If I transfer to East I'm going to know who my HC is going to be for 4 years. He's not leaving. I'm also going to have a great opportunity to play for a ring and I'm going to have every opportunity to play at the next level. None of what you said is true. I don't agree with everything Willert has done over the years but there is no denying he's a great coach.
