Had the shot to fire Elliot and get in on Bo Pelini this offseason. Another one of many Stoops gaffes at UK.

I don't want to hear about another "down" season while we shed a position coach and keep Stoops around and claim that the key to the future. At some point the head man has got to go. Outside of Marrow and Ansley...and a lesser degree Neal Brown..none of the coaches Stoops has hired have done the job. (not lumping in Gran/Hinshaw yet at it's only 4 games into the season).

So many critics of coaching with so little examination of the roster. The "coaching up" band of sports' clowns.

As mentioned on another thread, Stoops will have to promote someone (probably House) already on staff. No way any good DC takes this job with Stoops on the hot seat.
One really good comment on another thread is that Stoops should just continue to be DC as well as HC. Several HC's are also their teams OC or DC coordinator.

The problem with making House the DC is you lose the guy that has finally fixed special teams. I would rather give House a raise and keep him in that spot, unless they know of a "can't miss" ST coach they could get.

We'll Stoops is in year 4 at UK so if the issue isn't "coaching kids up"...then this is mostly a roster of kids he's recruited. So what is the next excuse why we lose to WKU, So Miss, Vandy,..we've also out-recruited UL in a few years as well but we won't stay within 3 scores of that team.

You're right and we've been fooled by the stars. As several have said our fours were overrated and other schools passed over them. In our position we had to take a chance. Not all of them are overrated but enough to spoil the soup.

There was an old Perry Como song that had some lyrics that said "don't let the stars get in your eyes". For instance we have a defensive lineman that we expected too much from because of stars. The jury is still out on him.

Amazing insight:rolleyes:...you can be one of the 12k folks to show up for UK's last home game that drink the koolaid.

Do you really believe UK produced on offense last year? Look at the stats...UK fell in basically every category from 2014 to 2015 all the while bringing back the entire offense save DeMarco Robinson/Blue? Dawson was a total disaster and was rightfully terminated. Mainord's WR were a mess and Schlarman is still a question mark.
Fact is, if we had a defense that could hold anyone under 50+ per game, we go bowling last year....my main point was D has been non existent!

Let's see...Stoops had coaches who have left for the following
One to UNC where he played
One to Alabama
One to LSU
One to be the DC for Maryland
One to be a head coach

Only 2 were fired in Dawson and the WR coach for creating drama.

Stoops has a lot to be criticised about, but recruiting and his staff choices are not ones.

So you think
Eliot
Scharlman
Brumbaugh
Mainord
Are all excellent? Thats half the staff!
When you have gambles some turn out ok and sometimes they dont. When your whole staff is just about gambles that isnt good to have. Some of those gambles we still have on staff. The better ones left and Marrow tried too but Stoops was ready to to whip his butt.

Got rid of some greenies on the staff and brought in some veteran guys and you see an immediate improvement in those areas.
Lost Scott but Gran coaching the backs and they look even better just after 4 games. Hinshaw is doing good things with the RB, Thomas has gotten the wide recievers blocking and playing much better. House has the special teams playing tremendously compared to before. Even gran has been working with the OL and they are looking better.

Its ok to have a couple guys to give them a chance like Marrow, was a graduate student before but spent many years in the nfl playing and has vast connections.

Id say if we replaced both line coaches and the DC then your going to be cheering for a bowl team. Last season would have been an 8 win season. Hire some proven assistants with a name to draw recruits as well as develop them. Recipe for success.

Eliot and Mainord was the only busts in my opinion. Still waiting to see on Brumbaugh and Schlarman. Brumbaugh is starting to win me over thpugh. Not so sure he isn't a good coach. Schlarman on the other hand has a ways to go to get me on board.

So IMO, the only bad hires are Dawson, Eliot, and Mainord. The rest have bee very good. The turnover has not though.

Why do you read if you can't understand. Beyond just poor interpretation, as usual.
