As someone whose emotional intelligence was too low to wait until the season finished before calling for the man’s job, I agree. (And I regret it too.) I have fallen victim to getting caught in the moment after losses, but we quickly forget the bigger picture. Team Pope until fate kicks me off the horse. I still believe.
I wish I could see it like that. But I just don’t.
And it’s not the record for me. Although that certainly plays into it.
But you can be the most prepared. You can be in better shape. You can even be more talented. You can play your *** off too.
And still lose the game. Gonna be even more losses if you do all that but are actually less talented.
That’s still a team to be proud of and get behind.
When you lose because you are not prepared it’s unacceptable.
We have had far too many of those under Pope.
When you lose because the other team is in better physical condition than you it’s unacceptable.
We have had far too many of those under Pope.
When you lose because you were outworked by the opponent it’s completely unacceptable!!
We have had that happen under Pope too many times to count. Pope has embarrassed UK basketball with lack of effort.
Hell, we have managed to win several games in which we were out worked.
The last 2 wins we were out worked.
And that happened last season too.
I can’t see how there’s any hope of that changing. The coach that Pope is today is the coach he just is.
Of course you could give him more talent and he could win more games in which he’s out worked and out played just on talent.
Throwing talent into this program is just treating the symptoms.
But we aren’t even doing that. Next year’s team will be less talented than this one if Pope is still the coach.
