Did I read somewhere that when Brands hangs it up that moneybags Bob will no longer be involved with the program?

Well...if no decision has been made yet, let me be the first to discourage that idea. I for one hope he owns your next coach too...

It took four pages for someone to draw this conclusion, even if it was in jest.
if you haven’t experienced a child being born, don’t comment. If this was his first child, it is possible that wrestling dropped way down on his list of priorities.
it would be refreshing to hear Tom say, “Due to personal and family reasons, Mo is no longer with the University of Iowa Wrestling team. We wish him and his family the best, and thank him for his contributions to the team.
Not hard.
60 days left! For a lifetime legacy and alma matre! Hell do it for your kid! Nothing better than making your kids proud of you! Yes i have 2

I think there may be confusion between the revenue sharing part of the NIL settlement (which Universities pay) and NIL deals from 3rd party boosters.

The lion's share of revenue sharing goes to football. Wrestling may see little to none. PSU wrestling asked for 30 scholarships and none of the revenue sharing. And not all players on the team need get the same share amount.

Revenue shares may be contingent on performance metrics and participation in a bowl or playoff. In contrast, 3rd Party NIL contracts are prohibited from being contingent on athletic participation or performance to prevent pay for play.

None of that makes any sense.

Now there’s also chatter on other forums that Mo is planning on transferring back to Warburg and attempting a medical redshirt. Also mentions of several wrestlers disgruntled about not getting paid what was promised re- NIL deals…

what is happening l?

Stop being fooled by stupid AI burner accounts. Or anything from Mineo. Be better.

Ludington has one more date left where he can still keep his RS. As an outsider looking in, I'd probably use that on Friday rather than have Gabe gain 15 lbs in 3 days and then have to go against Barr. Give Gabe as much time as possible to get acclimated to the new weight.
Why do we think Gabe would want to do this? I would say no if I was him. He was asked to cut down because that’s his best chance for the team next year. Now they want him to jump to 197. I’d say kick rocks.

Gabe has a lot of talent and we’ve never seen him at his best weight. He also struggles to cut weight now we want him to wrestle 197. Haha. Give me a break. It’s not in his best interest to flip to whatever weight this staff wants him to on a whim.

We all know that no clear reasoning will ever be presented. Anti-Iowa crowd will run Iowa through the mud. Anti-Brands crowd will call for him to be fired. Pro-Brands crowd will say that it is all on Endene but never back it up. Rinse. Wash. Repeat about a 1000 more times with anything that happens negatively for Iowa.

Sorry, I was wrong. To be clear, some of it was correct. But it does not apply to this situation and the post I replied to.
Comparing football to wrestling is apples to oranges wrt revenue sharing. Endene would only have a NIL contract, which he could've fulfilled (if one believes the troll implication).

Only certain football players like Iowa's and Vanderbilt's TE would have both a revenue share and NIL contracts.

The Iowa WR who opted out likely had a smaller revenue share dependent on bowl participation. The Vanderbilt TE's NO pay for play Booster NIL contract could've dwarfed his revenue share.

Brands didn't wake up this morning and say I'm going to kick a top starter off the team, I don't need a reason. What does Mo say about it?
Exactly, I know the hatred for Tom is strong in some, but use some common sense. Why in the hell would Tom (or any other D1 coach) just randomly kick a guy off the team (especially a highly ranked starter) with no explanation to them. I have no idea what happened, but I am 100% certain it wasn't that.

The complaints about Iowa recruiting for the 197 weight are ridiculous. Iowa got the #1 ranked 197 pound HS recruit in Ludington. To allow him to redshirt (which is needed for 99% of 197 pound freshmen), Iowa picked up a one-year transfer portal wrestler that rose up to being ranked #4. That recruiting for 197 looked pretty good until this unexpected situation with Mo.

If Mo got booted for steriods, how is that Brand;s; fault?
If Mo took his NIL money and ran, how is that Brands' fault?
If Mo had academic issues, how is that Brands' fault?
If Mo just wanted to end his wrestling career and go to work and support his family, how is that Brands' fault?

Coaches can have a lot of influence on their athletes, but in the end the athletes make career decisions for themselves that are out of the control of the coaches.
What was the strategy between Warner and Ludington? Glazier? AJ? Buchanan was a gift from the $ Gods, not a plan. This has been the mess the program now finds itself in what 4 out of 10 weights?

Yeah, he can just ride the bench if he prefers that

Well, he's the best option at the weight and he's not getting in the lineup otherwise this year, so I'd think he'd want to wrestle as opposed to watch? We'll see, I guess. He doesn't have a RS to take, so the year counts either way, and Brody Sampson has 4 losses this season against D2/D3 opponents, so it seems like it would be a borderline embarrassment to send him out in B1G matches.

Because Brands is a control freak with the emotions of a 4th grader. He will jump to conclusions and think later. Who knows what sets him off half the time?

For all the hoopla on this Board, the simplest explanation is Mo wasn’t following the rules - whatever that might have been. Don’t be surprised if he’s back later this year if he turns things around. Tons of potential - but Brands only has one year to try to help him be a Division I champion. That’s the goal - and to reach his fullest potential.

Probably. Brands overacts to prove a point the only way he knows how and only in his mind. Back on the team in 2 weeks lol. Who knows.

You honestly believe he woke up pissed off this morning and decided he was going to kick a wrestler off the team because he is immature and he can. No explanation to the wrestler, just cut him and send him on his way?!? Yea, I'm not buying it. It will all come out soon enough.

remember when Gable, John Smith, and Cael had to add a D3 wrestler in the desperate attempt to possibly finish top 5?

Probably was upset and didn't think Mo was living the lifestyle he demands as of late. Wasn't in the room enough- who knows. He's a control freak who would rather prove a point even if it paints himself in a corner then rationally think of another alternative. Brock used the term cult. In a cult you are with us or against us. No middle ground. Like I said if Mo is back on team in a few weeks LMAO
