The line markers on the field are gone, and I don't think they fade out that fast. They were nice and bright at the last game. In fact, I don't think they paint them but once a year.<div>
</div><div>And the #HAIL STATE looks kinda plain ... I like the regular endzone art work. Pretty soon we'll look like Notre Dame with just a few diagonal lines.</div>

This season, for the most part, has been a disappointment. We don't really have much to lose by doing this. If it gets people talking about us, for better or worse, I think it's a good thing. It's just damn paint in the endzone, it's not like we're clubbing seals here.

it is white like the lettering. Looks like photoshop to me. Must say Im not a fan of the hashtag on the field. Someone mentioned from a marketing aspect they loved it, but there are ways to market ourselves without looking like a CUSA team in the process.

I don't understand all of the butt-hurt in this thread. It's not a jab at Ole Miss. "This is Our State" would be really obnoxious. So would 31-23 or 41-27 painted on the field. We painted one of our rally chants in the endzone. Big deal. If it makes people tweet #hailstate, I don't see how that could possibly be a bad thing.

The only traditions we have are Maroon, Bulldogs ,Cowbells and Losing. I would like to keep the first three and lose the last one, I would like to turn on ESPN and see our score scrolling across the bottom constantly and not have to wait untill after the Ivy League scores! I would like to be ranked preseason just because the voters say "Hell it's Mississippi State , they are always good so they must be good enough to be ranked eventhough they haven't played a game yet". Believe it or not, I can tell you how to do this, write a check. Not to a prospect, but to the Bulldog Club. How many Bulldog Club members give the minimum to be eligible for tickets? How many fans are not even members of the Bulldog Club? How are we ever going to recruit against The Bamas in this conference When our athletic budget is a third of theirs? Oh and one other thing, put your butt in a seat at DWS every home game. There, I said it now I need a beer! PS: they take credit cards as well as checks!!

I still don't think they are going to leave it especially letting the old paint show through like that. Maybe just some beginning of the week pot stirring.

Either way,I don't care what's painted in there as long as the offense spends a lot of time in it.

are just too ++@%%## old! I'm old, 40, but I understand social media and I understand that Mississippi State is primary made for 18 to 22 year olds. You old bastards need to get a grip.

Maine Bears, Tulane players, Troy State players, and that bothered me a lot more than this. I don't see this as a dig to UM at all. I have no problem with it and I'm a man, I'm 40.

Per a recent msturf34 tweet... it looks like we got a hashtag with maroon backing.

Great, now I have to explain to myparents what twitter is.

the first week of the season? And then the next week, they unveiled their new uniforms from Under Armour and there was quite a bit of buzz about it in the national media circles?

Well, I kind of like the idea of doing something completely off-the-wall and unique. We're going to get a lot of attention for this and I know you guys think we should've played Arkansas closer... but this is about as winnable of an EggBowl as MSU has had in a long, long time. Hopefully Dan has the team ready, we come out and spank that ***, and the national media shows highlights from our game just to show our endzones.

I think it's a pretty damn good idea.

I was waiting till the end of the thread to post this exact same thing. You and I are the same age and get this. What the old timers don't realize is that State is MARKETING itself in every way possible. This is a great thing. So we have a hashtag in the endzone. How is it cheap or CUSA? As far as I know, we are the first to ever do it like this. If you old farts don't like it, too f'in bad really. MSU is on the throttle and not letting up.
Also - Half of the people on here are scared to death to lose this game because of all the smack talk. Our fans need to toughin up a bit. If we lose, you have to put up with extra **** from the rebs for awhile. BooHoo, grow thicker skin and have some courage. Our team is going to stomp their *** all over the field come Saturday and make them beg for mercy. We will win by 50 and take 8 knees.
Worse case scenerio? Our team all comes down with some sort of foodbourne illness and we actually lose the game. So !@$@%@ what. As soon as a bear comes up to you afterwards and starts talking ****, just take it like a man and say, yep, i deserve that.

So does everyone on facebook and twitter, whether they're a MSU or Ole Miss students (seen some LSU students comment on it also). Most think it's cheesy, and stupid.<div>
</div><div>The one positive is that people are talking about it. One big negative (for yall) is all the photoshopped versions that will come out if we win.</div>

It does not accomplish much from a marketing point of view, because Twitter is something that you either follow or you don't. It is cute. It stands out but not because it is outstanding. It stands out because it is silly. It says look at me and how cool I am. It says that I am not a serious player. But I am a player. So there.

No offense, and I hate to generalize, but many of the OM fans I know are pretty scared to do anything "outside the box". With everything they do in life they worry about how others are going to perceive it. Your insecurity makes you all dress alike and act alike.
Half of your fanbase would be too embarrassed for the school to do anything creative for fear of being laughed at.

What does it cost us? How does it hurt? Are we really worried at this point that someone in the SEC might look down at us? Because we've been there for a while and doing nothing doesn't seem to be flipping things. At the very least we are doing some **** now. Some of it will be great, some of it won't, but we don't have the luxury of sitting on our *** and waiting to take our turn on top of the SEC mountain. If we are going to get there we have to take some risks. And if the worst thing we risk is having some of the people we don't even like call us cheesy then it's totally worth it. I think back on how many people laughed at Oregon when they started wearing their flamboyantly gay uniforms. That **** turned out pretty good though didn't it? And now everyone in the nation is trying to follow their lead to some degree or another. Georgia, *$+%*%% GEORGIA with one of the most iconic uniforms in America, wore some crazy *** uniforms this year in an attempt to keep up with the Joneses.

I'm not saying this is going to make us cool, but at least we are out trying something new. I guess some of you would rather us put LT back in the AD skybox where he could make sure we stay in the black and do nothing remotely different than we have for the past 80 years.

Our athletic dept. is strutting around w/ chests poked out acting like we are owning them and the fact of the matter is we have not taken full advantage of this opportunity to make whoever their next coach and AD's job more difficult. Sure we've beaten them the last two egg bowls but we got stomped in recruiting and this year's team has been a major disappointment after a preseason top 25 ranking. The confidence that a majority of fans had going into last year's egg bowl is not there this year and for good reason b/c we are setting ourselves up for a major let down. They could kick our *** or squeak by on Saturday and carry Nutt off the field like Florida players carried off Zook when they upset Bowden and FSU during Zook's last game back in '04 (I think). I don't like taking these types of gambles b/c the upside doesn't gain us much but the downside is devastating. If we win, well we should have won against this cluster17 of a team, but if we lose, we look like idiots for changing uniforms specially made for this game, putting up billboards, changing the field, etc. People will argue that all this is what recruits want to see, well, UM had nothing to sell after last year (coach on hot seat, transferring in players to fill voids, fans bitching about everything from gameday atmosphere to music played over the speakers, Black Bear fiasco, etc.) and we had everything to offer (momentum, excited fan base, regular sellouts, stadium expansion planning, top 25 ranking, demolition of bowl game opponent, stable coach) and where did that get us? Personally, I say we shut the 17 up and start winning games and building a team rather than being proud of having a better season than them.

It's a cool, quirky idea. If you don't Tweet, you probably won't get it, but how does it hurt anything? And how does this make a loss even worse somehow? I wish we had done this against Alabama.<div>
</div><div>Would anyone object to putting "HAIL STATE" without the # in the end zone? Of course not. So what makes the hashtag so objectionable? And again, how does it in any way bulletin board material or make us look foolish if we lose? It's not like we wrote #Eggbowlchamps or #OURstate in the end zone...</div>

Just that I don't like this. As I said somewhere else in this thread, I think putting "This Is" "Our State" in the endzones would have been much better.

Actually, I agree with most of the things you just said. I wish we would change things up from time to time (other than with some of our traditions).. but I personally would beembarrassedif we put a hashtag in our endzone. If yall like it, more power to yall... but it sounds like most of your fanbase agrees with me.

When u have your foot on the throat of your opponent you don't let up. We are making fools out of TSUN. They are our bitches. If you don't think the 16 and 17 year old kids notice this, you are not paying attention. Notice how few of the good recruits are even thinking about TSUN? Continue the humiliation and drive their image deeper into the dirt.

Our programs fight for very limited resources in a small state that shouldn't have 2 sec schools. Every inch matters. I won't let up until they have disbanded the football program.

I laughed when I saw that yall had a hash tag in the endzone. It's absolutely awful. I hope they change that, for yalls sake.
Yeah, or else we might look like a bunch of idiots in the SEC with our ridiculously disgusting coaching situation, AD sitaution, record, players giving up ,all 35 "fans" leaving the game early etc etc..... That would be awful**
