for the first time since 1957? What is going on? Just a weak schedule so far, or has a new coach and some new talent found a way? Will they win again this year?

New coach, and they have a good running game. Schedule hasn't been the toughest but they should win 6 or 7 games

The team believes in themselves and appears to fight harder than they normally would. Their schedule has been weak, except Pisgah, I wouldn’t classify us as weak (not world beaters, either) but we definitely underperformed and didn’t take care of the football.
With where Enka traditionally is they should schedule weak non-conference schedules to try and get some wins, so no harm there.

They should beat N. Buncombe and McDowell, play ACR and Erwin well maybe split those, and then lose to Asheville and TC. 6-7 wins in Candler is an enormous year.

They’re beating who’s on their schedule so that’s all the kids can do! 👍

Their schedules weak but they’re also usually the team that is weak on other peoples schedule. And they have great support. I can remember years when we would be ranked and they would be 2-6 and they’d have significantly more fans than us

They had a great, loud crowd at our game. Band was loud. They were all fired up from pre-game to post-game.

That's the mystery. Regardless of the team, folks in Enka Candler have always come out to games in numbers that don't match up with the team's quality of the field. Hat's off to that community. Most schools would love to have their blind support.

I hope they win out. Was just wondering cause I haven't seen any games and was surprised by the Pisgah outcome. They must be down.

It’s their time
After the way Enka represented themselves the week leading up to our game, it is very difficult to root for them, however, it would be fun to see if they could somehow use this as a year to beat ACR given both teams’ current situations. I’d love to know the last time that occurred or how many times in history.

Get over it. It wasn't the football team

Say what you will but they were wearing Enka football helmets and full pads in the videos. I think it’s fair to see why I’d assume that would have been a player but if you have insider info. on who it was, good on you.

I find it hard to believe that the Enka coach would let a player leave the facility with a helmet and full pads but evidently you have a video. What number was he wearing I'll check the roster

I don’t remember the number or if it was completely visible and if so wouldn’t want to share it here. It was just shown to many of our players where it was shared to them on Instagram. I hope the coach addressed it bc I’m sure he was aware as our coaches were. There were a couple videos that were out there but the one with the mannequin/ dummy of Pisgah’s QB was just a low class video with the language and threats and I would say the same thing if a Pisgah player was caught sending something out of that caliber.
It is good how well Enka is performing just left a very sour taste the way things were handled.

Probably 1 more week. Their line is their strength, Erwin’s line is their weakness. Enka’s skill position group is weak and not much speed. TCR and Asheville games shouldn’t even be close, just due to speed and enough broken plays to win alone. ACR game will be a toss-up but it is at Enka. I think they finish the season 7-3.

7-0!

By the way, your Bears fall to .500

You’re right about the Bears. Should still finish up 6-4. I think in Enka they still call that a “Dream Season”. J/k 😜Congrats to the Jets!

For the record, I said Enka’s line play would probably win this one for them.

It’s crazy to look at Enkas name with a 7-0 record next to it. Yea they haven’t played anybody but they’re also the “nobody” that everybody else usually plays. I have seen years where they were 0-7 and they still had great fan support.

@ Roberson
Reynolds
@Asheville

that's a tough finish for them. Roberson is quite good having seen them once this year. Reynolds is down but will be hard. Asheville has more speed than anyone in the county.

Question is how healthy and how confident going in to the post season 7-3, maybe 8-2. Regardless, glad to see those folks get some wins.

You better be glad that Pisgah played Enka its making your RPI look better every game. I don't know anyone in Enka calling it a dream season. They are having a good year, just getting it done with no talent at skill positions and no speed like you said

I agree on the RPI and said as much on the “If the playoffs started today thread in 3A/4a”. Pisgah’s RPI is currently overinflated due to OWP and this is a very down year in talent overall across the mountains. We’re ranked higher than we belong, I’ve been pretty consistently adamant on that.

My comment about a “Dream Season” was joking with 1955 Wildcat for our .500 record. Usually a 6-4 record like we “should” finish is a great year at Enka. It was a joke.

Enka’s line is stout and works well as a unit but their skill players are not very quick but they are winning despite that. That isn’t a knock it was simply an assessment, just like saying that Erwin’s line play is weak. Ask any Erwin fan that knows football and they’ll say the same.

Reynolds is down, but still, first win over them since 1987.. Jets move to 8-1 with a regular season finish against Asheville on the horizon.

I have to imagine being a conference champion with an 8-2 record will give Enka a top 6 seed
Being a conference champion ultimately has nothing to do with it. Just glancing over RPI, I would imagine Enka will wind up with a 7 or 8 in the West. The two most “catchable” teams for Enka (Monroe, Forest Hills) play each other this week so one obviously takes a loss but it will be a “quality” loss. If Enka beats Asheville, they possibly leapfrog to a 6 but with a loss they stand little chance of catching Forest Hills, or Monroe, just quickly looking at the numbers and not diving too deep in the math. Fortunately for them, they look to securely have the 8th seed at worst from what I see.
