Enough with the coach talk, it starts at the top, so who do you hire as a AD?

And don't tell me Trev Alberts. Yeah, Husker great and all, but no experience leading a football program.

We are willing to pay for an AD, so lets go get a big boy (no idea who that is)

Worst case scenario Green can hire Trev Alberts. I'm okay with that worst case scenario. Football is putrid, Basketball is an embarrasement, Baseball is hapless you can't do much worse than Silent Sean

I think the AD has to be an outsider who is willing to wipe out most of the associate AD's. The whole dept needs to go too much underperforming and the feeling that they are untouchable.

The guy at Virginia Tech has made some good hires (Fuente and Buzz Williams). The guy at TCU has done a pretty good job with their transition to a Power-5 conference. The guy at Purdue must be pretty good if he convinced Jeff Brohm to take that job.

Baseball hapless? They're big ten champions lol. You're right about football and basketball though.

It'll be some dude with a buisness background who we've never heard of from a lower P5 school. And then he'll go out and get us one of the best coaches the Mid-America Conference can offer.

Don't know how long he's been there but Matt Painter is a heck of a basketball coach too.

Ed Stewart?
Wasn't Ed fired from the B12 in that hiring/staff scandal. I don't think Ed is employed in football or athletic administration anymore. What we really need is the guy that hired Bob Devaney.

I agree with this. Since NU athletics is the only game in town, I think a lot of people within the AD have gotten big heads. I used to have to work in the west stadium complex sometimes for my job, and there were some massive egos.

Edit: but seriously what about David Boren from Oklahoma? I really have no clue on this answer so I'm not going to pretend like I do.

I don't know about Boren. I'm not sure he is tired of being the President of the University of Oklahoma yet.

Off topic a bit, but just browsing the Husker Football Reddit thread, there are some valid views about Nebraska's identity, which is lacking. Nebraska was bruising football. But it isn't anymore but it can be again, I believe. I still have faith in that and I think we all can be proud of this program again.

Also I wouldn't mind if Mike Riley committed seppuku on the sidelines this year, and have it go unnoticed. The commentators would talk about how unenthusiastic Nebraska and Mike Riley is on the sidelines while panning to a Mike Riley who committed seppuku an hour earlier.

You might be right. I wasn't aware of that. Thought he was still there.

Purdue hired Mike Bobinski from George Tech last year. Bobinski then hired Brohm if I'm not mistaken.

Before that Morgan Burke was AD for 20+ years. I've lived in West Lafayette for about 6 years now and I have always heard groans about Burke (unwilling to pony up for coaches). If it came to it, it would be interesting to see if the university went for an AD/coach combo, such as Bobinski/Brohm. In that scenario I'd take Painter too of course, but he's a Purdue alum so he's probably not leaving :(
