What yall thoughts?
Each game was 34-7 at the half. Then the subs come in. Maybe in the playoffs you would get your starters off the field as soon as possible? Who knows

Mc played their 1s on offense for a drive or 2 in the second half. It was all 2s and 3s after that.

Not considering the final score, east was able to move the ball quite a bit better vs mc than vs esl. Skill positions and depth, I think esl def has the edge.

MC vs ESL would be a one score game if both teams played well.

Hopefully we can make to it Bloomington and see Naz so there would be another common opponent there too.

Common opponents, it’s has its place no doubt in a discussion. But every game is different for different reasons.
My take ESL is the team that could win by more than one score if the game got away from MC. But the likely scenario is a tight one score game…again just my opinion.

C'mon. Did you watch the game? MC was up 48-7, scoring at will in 2 or 3 plays almost every possession and once it became a running clock (very early in the 3rd Q) they put in their 2's and 3's while BE kept in their 1's and then scored a couple fast TDs and even went for 2 to make the final look somewhat respectable but MC could have put 70 on them. They made one mistake on offense on a under thrown pass.

I don't think he's disagreeing with that. Just that before the 1s came out, ESL dominated East just like MC had.

you may have seen some of my past posts on here busting chops about MC

ESL is a run heavy offense
MC D matches up really well with them…

MC matches up better with ESL than it does LWE and that’s a fact

Not true at all. If there is a criticism of Sunkett its that he doesn't run enough. First 10 plays yesterday were passing plays. People think because they have MJC and 2 other really good backs they pound the ball all game (they probably should)

Maxpreps shows 72% of ESL plays were run plays. If the first 10 plays were passing, then Maxpreps says 90% of the remainder of the game were run plays for ESL.

Sure. When you are up 20+ late in the game you run more to burn clock. The first half, and when the game is tighter, the offensive play calling is more indicative of what the team wants to do offensively.

…if only the SWC would allow ESL to play up more than 1 class, the debate will continue.
Not saying it will happen, but with the addition of borderline 5a schools joining the conference there will be some new schools who may look to keep esl out of 5a/6a.

Pointless to expect anything objective to come from this. We beat Loyola handily last year, only allowing them to score on a defensive pick six from their own 15 yard line. By most posters, LWE was the best last year until Loyola ultimately beat them and went on to win, GET THIS……..8A. Wow!! Can you imagine the amount of cognitive dissonance it takes to deny the FACT that ESL would have certainly been the champ 1A-8A last year.

We returned roughly 60% of our skilled positions this year. Now, translative properties is the term that is used in mathematics to cover this concept. But one thing that I’ve come to learn about most public spaces and social media mediums, they have NO PREREQUISITES.

Can the MC/ESL faithful could do a breakdown by position to see how the teams would stack up?
The best I can say is this and of course it’s just an opinion but after watching MC in person yesterday I really think that game would go very different then what some think the team that beat estl seems a bit more athletic then this years team and MC dbs to me looked like the weak spot on their defense which could cause major problems against estl hopefully we get that matchup next year but it wouldn’t surprise me if estl plays a clean game without all the self wounding penalties that game might be similar to the Loyola game

ESTL vs anyone in 7a/8a is the most exhausting debate ever in the history of edgytim.
But it wasn’t even mentioned last year. No one said a word, especially no one from the ESL camp when, in fact, the empirical evidence was infinitely clear. The conversation this year actually started when some MC folks started claiming top-dawg status while ESL was considered to be by MaxPreps and others. We mostly quietly observe how quite a few CCL faithful skillfully voice opposition (butt-hurt) as the season progresses. Of course it’s all just conjecture, but still……… all fun and interesting.

How dare anyone think that any team outside of the CCL is the best any odd year….
