This morning on The Blitz, they recognized fans of schools - most loyal, rowdiest, etc. TSUN is best dressed. They talked about The Grove, The Kakis, The Dresses, and "oh yeah there might be a football game too".<div>

I just don't understand the national attention of the Grove. Why is standing around in a field being an overdressed douche a great tradition?

And ringing farm equipment is a way better tradion thanbeautiful womenwearing sun dresses.
I personally like the tradition of eating cold chicken strips off of fine china and drinking wine out of a dixie cup. I just wish I could have gotten in the right fraternity so I wouldn't have had to drop out of The University. <div>

The majority of OM fans wear slacks and a gameday polo to the games. If thats too dressy for you then dress like a farmer andmock those fairies who tuck their shirts in.

to the Grove with people who know people. Sorry, but it's fun as hell. I can hate on Ole Miss as much as the next guy but the only way you don't enjoy the Grove is if you are just looking at it and not participating.

It's just we have less fraternity guys than y'all and more non greeks. And a hell of a lot less short old men decked out in scarves.

But no actually you're right, we are nothing but a school of 20,000 plus farmers.

Wheredid I say this? I said if wearing a polo with slacksis too "dressy" then by all means dress like a farmer. I didnt say you all do dress like farmers.Half my HSclass is atState. I know what you wear. Everyone in the SEC wears the same thing, exceptFlorida.Isat in front of some Michigan fans at the gator bowl and they said yall were the bestdressed rednecks they had ever seen. Just like you are mocking us for "dressing up", therest of the country mocks the SEC for "dressing up".

It's a novelty thing. Seriously. People outside of the South have such a warped view of MS it's insulting. While traveling for work, I've had educated people ask me if MS has running water. Educated (term used loosely) people from outside of the South think we are a 3rd world country.

The Grove is the same scene as it is at UGA or LSU - it's just talked about more at Ole Miss because people think of overalls, straw hats, and banjos when they think of MS.

I think their in-game atmosphere is terrible, but the Grove is fun. I'm not too much of homer to admit that. And like other people have said, plenty of State fans dress well for football games.

marketing their product, the SEC. They decided when the huge tv deal was made that Mississippi would be "the Grove/party school" and State would be "the Cowbells". Look for these references to be used almost every time ESPN talks about either school.
