Hell, it wouldn't be that they had interviewed a black candidate and then chose a white candidate over him. They have already promised Joker Phillips the job. Auburn will have gotten off light compared to what Kentucky will have to deal with.

I just think that a rational person can understand why a program would pick a proven HC and not want to "gamble" with someone who hasn't been there before, remember UK has now been to a few bowl games in a row so they aren't necessarily looking to rebuild a program, if anything they'd want someone who could take them to the next level, enter proven HC from what is arguably the 3rd/2nd most difficult division in college football.

Also, since they've hired a minority head coach at what is known to be their most important sport they can deflect the argument to "see we've already had an AA coach, and it was at this schools most important program".

Again, all of this is based on a rational person, however media in general could make a story out of this as well as the BCA.
