Yup, politics on a UK basketball message board in a thread about an ESPN reporter who covers the NFL. Ironically, all this from guys who were cheering ESPN reporters losing their jobs a few weeks ago.How did I guess that politics would be dragged into this?

I thought we decided all these layoffs were because of their liberal views and all the patriots were turning the channel and destroying the monster?
They're laying off because the network is tanking. I've always maintained that's due to multiple factors. My post was a bit toungue and cheek, but ratings are not the driving force behind the MSM, and I consider ESPN just another news network. They chose that.
that audience does not seem to be paying the bills...ESPN is definitely fulfilling a business strategy that includes a very noticeable left wing bend. The audience they are catering to is demanding more entertainment rather than hardcore factoids. Whether anyone here likes it or not, the vast majority of their viewership supports political discussion with a left bend. It's just how it is, times change. The US is no longer the "center right" country I had known growing up, it's becoming more and more left with each new social crusade that comes through the pipe. We aren't really a nation with set morals a values - as shown by the pendulum effect of our political direction every election cycle. We've been swinging left for a while, everything else that could say otherwise is just semantics.
So they are obnoxious shoving their beliefs down our throats so we will be obnoxious and shove our beliefs on the posters here.Okay makes sense.
Any thread with a MST3K clip gets my vote.
Keep circulating the tapes!
I'm one of the cord cutters. ESPN gets nothing from me.

Because some people don't understand there's more ways than one to view the world, therefore they inject their political opinions into every thing.
These people are called wing nuts. They're not much fun to be around. They can be found marching/looting in cities or boycotting something or standing in front of the local Target yelling Bible verses about transgender pissing. These people should be considered mentally unstable and should be immediately sterilized.
It's ok to lean left.....it's ok to lean right....but it would be great if those on the far left AND the far right could find another planet to live on.
Obviously, I'm not the demographic that ESPN is trying to please.
I miss the days when ESPN reported the news and MTV and VH1 played music videos and there was no such thing as "reality TV."
It's a young man's world and I'm just trying to find a TV station that wants to please me and other 50-year olds. Apparently, there are absolutely NO advertisers that want to speak to me.
you ever seen them live?I hate it when anything negative happens to a fellow Slayer fan.

Sort of.
I saw them in Louisville at last year's Louder than Life, but it's only half of the orginal band with Jeff Hanneman being dead and Dave Lombardo being gone. (Holt and Bostaph are top notch replacements, but not originals).
Lombardo is my favorite drummer of all time, and I kick myself daily for missing seeing Slayer when he was behind the kit.
Again, FS1 really has the opportunity to start taking over
Take over what? Sports talk shows? I can probably count on my fingers the number of sporting events that I watched on FS1 in the last year. Like it or not, ESPN is still far and away the king of the hill in televising sporting events that matter.
Again, FS1 really has the opportunity to start taking over
This is an outrage!!I'd rather have a dozen enemas than listen to Stephen A....
