If you have a pristine record, I hire you and then you kill someone, that's a reflection on my judgment maybe. But not the same, in nature or degree. In the end, will depend on whether Stoops record was in fact pristine or not. Of course, all that depends on what's true. Believe it or not, there's a chance all of this is made up....

Don't know why they would fire him at this stage unless they wanted an early start on finding someone for next season, however, there were rumors floating around a couple of weeks ago that some of the most influential boosters wanted him gone now. Only rumors so take it FWIW but it is ironic.

I'll be extremely shocked if Stoops survives the season. I just don't think he will win enough this year and I don't see his contract being a sufficient deterrent to justify risking the program's long term health. That said I don't think there is any chance he gets fired right now. That only happens if we already have a deal in place with another coach. The only coach that would deal right now is one that is out of work currently. That would point to Art Briles. Based on his past I don't see any way Briles workes for an SEC school ever. Not just UK but other schools are out as well. Stoops will likely coach the team through out the season. They might announce during the season that he will be terminated at the end but even that won't come until it's mathematically impossible to go to a bowl game.
I don't know. I guess I just need actual evidence instead of believing everything I hear. So I will believe that it is false until there is evidence to prove otherwise. This is how I approach life. If you want something to be true then you have a tendency to believe it. I try my best to not be guilty of this flaw. Most people aren't even aware of it.
As far as the Stoops' website it's been like that for several weeks now so nothing really there. And with the Instagram post I don't really read too much into it considering they always meet with each coordinator individually before the game. At this point I'm not sure what's true and what's not. When there's smoke there's usually fire, but it would give us a lot better idea of the validity if we could figure out where the rumors and stuff got their start.
Being a SC fan, I read this as nothing more than motivation for your Cats. We always either help schools keep coaches or get them fired. We beat Florida in the swamp....Muschamp is fired. This year, MSU beats us and Mullen comes off the hot seat.

I don't know what to believe. Rumors/Unsubstantiated allegations? The UT thing IMO is so far out there, Tabloid material at it's best. Absolutely Zero documentation that something like that occurred. Add to that no credible sources indicating anything occurred at all.

This old tried and true excuse for some of our fans not wanting to hire Petrino is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on this board..I honestly wonder if some of you actually believe the stuff that you type.
Boy, it sure makes me feel better that I didn't hire the best man for the job. He might have ended up leaving. Let's hire the mediocre candidate instead so we don't have to worry about him going somewhere else.

The Tennessee site hasn't reported anything, a fan on their message board posted the same thing that others have posted here. The rumors were posted here before anywhere else, because of the nature of the situation we have been more prudent & exercised more scrutiny in terms of what stays up and what comes down. This post is still up so don't let anyone tell you this is North Korea.
